What to expect JFK-DXB in F

I am travelling on Emirates for the first time in "F" in June on an award ticket and I was wondering what I might expect as far as food and drink service such as when and how many meals are offerred. Is there a meal served when you board in JFK at 11:30pm? Also prior to depature from JFK will I be allowed axcess to a lounge and in DXB do I get access to their first class lounge?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I am really looking forward to the expierence.

I flew first from JFK to DXB in January.

I made a BIGGGGG mistake by going to the business/first class airport lounge and I pigged out on pretzels due to boredom. When I got on board, I was stuffed !!

I was soooooooooo stupid and had little appetite the entire flight. Live and learn. Do NOT eat in the airport lounge prior to boarding.

You can eat anytime you want on the flight. It is on-demand food service. Relax and enjoy the great flight.

Great flight

I have flown the nonstop DXB JFK in F and it is fantastic. You receive a fabulous menu and ring a "room service" button whenever and whatever you want to eat. You have tons of choices, and basically eat what and when you feel like it without waiting for "service".
You will love it! ^

First Class will never be the same for you again. Nothing compares to Emirates. It is amazing.

BTW, Dubai will be stupid hot in June. I was there last June 22 and the temperature was 98F, at 7000 feet, at midnight.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will let you know how it went when I return. Just one last question do I get axcess to the First class lounge in Dubai when I am on a F award ticket?

lounge access

Yes, just show your boarding pass. Btw there is an unbelievable buffet spread with hot and cold food in the F class lounge.

Sounds like I will need to lose some weight when I Get back from this trip. Thanks again

Do they still offer the option to dine at either of the two Ritz-Carltons in New York (for dinner) the evening of your flight?

It seems like the offer is still available: http://www.emirates.com/usa/miniSite...home/index.asp

Absolutely true (although only valid for the A340-500's). Forget about their starlight and time zone cabin lighting (it looks nice but that's it) but the (closed) suite doors really made the difference for me as they provide an unparalleled amount of privacy compared to other top F class providers (like SQ or CX et. al.). LH's 2-2 seating on the upper deck looks pale in this respect.

Hope I can get along with my promised trip report; there is so much to tell... :( ;)

Has anyone posted menus from the JFK-DXB-JFK flights in F?

Has anyone posted trip reports for these routes in F?

I've searched both here and in the trip report forums with no success, and would welcome help.

Also, I read a post saying that the JFK lounge is mediocre - but then another person said it had been renovated. Any recent reports?

What about the DXB F lounge? Someone commented on another thread that CX Wing or Pier is far ahead. True?

EK now has a dedicated lounge at JFK, it is supposedly excellent. The DXB F lounge needs to be renovated, but I still love it.

Cheers

I know that they distribute the menus in big leather folders, and they do ask for them back at the end of the flight or after you are done ordering. I would suspect it is not quite protocol to take that, and it might be odd to pull out the paper/cardboard with the writing of the menu on it.

I also know that the lounge at JFK T4 is new and dedicated to the EK flights (departing only), though I forget if it is separated into F and Biz.

It is 1 common lounge. No F/J seperation AFAIK.

I took the menu out of the folder and gave it back to them. No problem.

I flew the 910am departure and the 8am return.

The JFK lounge was really spacious and right by the gate. There was a full buffet available with every kind of breakfast food imaginable. As I was on the 910am, it could vary at night. There were eggs, cheeses, rolls, breakfast meats, smoked salmon, pancakes, etc.

Lots of papers, magazine, televisions, desktop computers and a great host who use to be concierge at the Waldorf (I believe).

The food onboard (I have the menu somewhere) had something like 4 breakfast entrees (2 egg/omlette dishes, one pancake option, and 1 smoked salmon on bagel) plus rolls, cererals, cheeses, yogurts, etc..

There were then numerous appetizers, caviar, crabment, lobster, salad, soup plus at least 3 non-veg and 2 veg entrees plus an assortment of vegetables all a la carte.

There are cheese, desserts, fruits plus a basket of snacks in the first class galley if you feel the need to graze. There were granola bars, chocolates, fresh fruit, etc.

It was the same set up on the return, but different choices in each category.

I actually ate breakfast both ways and two set of snacks each way instead of 1 main meal. The crew was very gracious and you really felt like ordering when and what you wanted was no problem or nuisance for them.

I actually liked the JFK lounge a lot more. There computers were nicer and it was more up-to-date although there were a few more food items at Dubai that included more of an international selection as far as middle eastern/asian dishes including breakfast and lunch/dinner entrees.

The only bad thing about the Dubai lounge was how crowded it was and how slow the computers were.

Otherwise, I found the comfort, entertainment, food, wine, champage (dom) all to be equal to SQ or CX. The only area for improvement would be the DXB lounge.
