Emirates STPC rules
I am sure i have read somewhere that Emirates is to pay for hotel accomodation when transit time is more than 6 hours when flying in C + F. I think it was on the back of the voucher i received last when i was offered a night on EK in DXB because of a bad connection.
However it seems as if these "rules" interpreted differently from time to time. Early march i have a CAI-DXB-ZRH with a 8 hour layover in DXB. However both EK london and Dubai seem to know nothing about the stpc. Tomorrow i will call EK Cairo - but just wanted to know if anybody is aware of the official EK rules? Can these been seen in a CRS? or how can i find the facts about this. |

I haven't seen those rules yet but that's how it worked out recently:
The STPC matter was quite a challenge on my trip CAI-DXB-SYD. CAI office told me that they are the only ones to issue it as they issued the ticket. I called EK reservations in Germany several times to arrange for pickup in FRA on the day of my flight STR-FRA-CAI connecting to EK DXB-SYD. Spoke with different agents getting different answers  : After several unsuccessful calls one FRA call center agent finally offered me to prepare the voucher in my booking/PNR for pickup in FRA. When I connected in FRA I went landside to the EK check-in/ticket desk in T1/C. Too bad the desk was due to open at 10:00 am and my flight to CAI was about to leave at 10:15 am  . I called EK reservations immediately and another agent told me again to pick it up in CAI (she told me that I cannot collect it on arrival in DXB or in FRA anyway) and wished me luck. The EK agent in CAI handling the transit procedure in that infamous "long waiting transit area" delivered the voucher to me at the EAS lounge after requesting it on my initial contact with him in transit. A little bit of a hassle but it worked well in the end. Send EK CAI an email incl. your passport number/issuing country and follow my procedure in CAI - this should work well. |
Great it worked out for you... I will give EK CAI a call tomorrow and see what they say, but I would love to have something documented concerning STPC as I also experienced this crazy situation with another ticket from CAI back in october. It ought to be something that any TA could add in the PNR but this seems not to be possible...

This will not be a great help for you, but:
I am in the considilator business in Germany, and the rules for EK considilator tickets concerning stopovers are as follows (in german): STOPOVER: 1x in DXB kostenlos erlaubt, + 28 EUR für weiteren in DXB (max. 2), +55 EUR/Stop in anderen Destinationen; Ziel HKG: 1x in BKK kostenlos erlaubt; bei flugplanbedingter Zwischenlandung nach/von Australien 1x in SIN kostenlos erlaubt; nach Neuseeland zusätzlich 1x kostenlos in Australien erlaubt; beim flugplanbedingten Stop (mehr als 8 Std. bei economy, mehr als 6 Std. bei business) EINE kostenlose Übernachtung möglich For you important is: beim flugplanbedingten Stop (mehr als 8 Std. bei economy, mehr als 6 Std. bei business) EINE kostenlose Übernachtung möglich wich translate to: when transit time is more than 8 hours for economy and more than 6 hours for business, one free accommodation is possible... |

Thank you Dusordua - very interesting, this should be enough to convince EK to give me that accomodation voucher... :)
considilator business are you in the tourism business? by the way the only ailes seats available on the DXB-ZRH A340-500 was the last row of C... :( well guess the only good thing about this is that we will be served first... -> ngfan I fully agree with you, also I feel that EK should set up a special knowledgable department for C/F passengers. Calling the DXB call center gives you a terrible |
