Glasgow to Dubai
I'll be trying out this new route soon to Bombay. What difference can I expect between NW WBC and EK business? Many of the negative comments on this forum re EK are a concern?

I think EK has a great C product, but this is in part to do with the value it offers - I tend to use them when going beyond DXB.
The biggest thing you'll notice against WBC will be the seat pitch. They use the A330 to Glasgow I believe and you're down to around a 40 inch seat pitch. However, for a daytime flight, I prefer this set up flying from a local airport against going via LHR or AMS. (they are however taking a row out of C on the 330's, so you might be lucky) Meal service should be far better - 6 courses of (IMO) quality food. Nice selection of wines and a young, friendly crew who aren't just there for your safety and security. IFE probably better than NW. Lounge at DXB is amazing (will make a worldclub look like McDonalds). Excellent amenity kit on overnight flights - very comprehensive and gender specific. Comes in a nice reusable washbag. If you look for faults i'm sure you'll find them, but sit back & enjoy the service! |

Has anybody flown this route lately?
If so, how is its Y product, and is it usually a full flight? Thanks. :) |
when did they take off the 77W ?
We have used the route twice in J and it's fantastic ( in a 77W anyway) |
They do still use the 77W, if you look at the original post, it was dated '04 and AFAIK they introduced the 77W around 2005. I flew Business class in February to DXB and back and still find the service very very good, and the hard product good - the IFE is one of the best in the skies, the seat could do with a refresh.

I think they have started refreshing the seats in the 77W. I took EK from LHR to JNB via DXB in April and the 77W on the way down to JNB had new seats and new huge IFE screens whilst on the way back it was the older style - still comfy enough mind you.
