Business class diabetic meals

Is it worth ordering? Will I just expect uninspired bland food. Ive taken a look at the menus on line and there's going to be things I can eat for sure..

Does anyone have any experience and orders them as a preference?

I'm an injecting diabetic, and once, some years ago, I ordered a diabetic meal. It was indeed bland and uninspiring, and I resolved not to have it again.

Also, I read a post somewhere recently that the diabetic meal included a sugar-laden 'energy bar'.
Not exactly what is needed to keep BSL in range!

Unfortunately the standard meal choices in economy are restricted and it's hard to select something with a small amount of carbs and a minimum of added sugar. That problem exists in all classes, where it is difficult to assess how much sugar there is in the standard meals.

What I do is eat minimally and choose the meal which I judge to be the most diabetic-friendly, such as thin soups in FC. However, the additional meal choices do help in the other classes, where there is more choice and a bit more flexibility in what you order.

There's no perfect solution. It's either a bland 'special' meal or Russian roulette with the standard meals. For me, the key is to eat the minimum and not drink too much alcohol.

Good luck, I hope this helps you!
