Upgrading using miles …additional costs?
 

Hi

I'm looking at booking a flight to Mauritius and using miles to upgrade to Business. Can anyone tell me what extra costs if any that there are in addition the miles. I’ve read that in can include additional taxes etc but does anyone know how much in reality they are?

It depends what the departure tax is from your embarkation point and I believe this varies according to country. For instance in the UK there is an increase of £110 and I believe this is going up in April. If you upgrade with miles before departure you will pay this difference but if you upgrade on board (depends on Skywards status) then there is no extra charge.
