Just to respond to the OPs question, Skywards+ and especially Premium, probably makes a lot of sense for someone like me who makes Gold easily but struggles to reach Platinum with my regular flying. I have been purchasing Skywards+ classic anyway because for $400 only the 20% discount on classic rewards makes it pretty good value (we are a family of 3). And then, I do not mind paying USD 600 more to go to Premium because the 20% bonus tier miles is worth earning 25,000+ tier miles which I would need to get by doing a mileage run to JFK in J Flex, for around USD 7K. If I can get the miles by paying only $600 and make Plat (I just did), then yes it is definitely worth for folks like me.

The 20% discount on upgrade awards; is that specific to an upgrade in the Skywards+ holders name?

For example if I have 2 passengers booked onto the same ticket/PNR, and I want to upgrade them both, will it charge me different amounts for them, applying the 20% discount to only my upgrade? Or would it be applied to all passengers on the pnr?

A question regarding Skywards + Lounge vouchers.

If I’m flying on a business flex ticket and I’m Gold obviously I get access to the business lounge at DXB. Does anyone know if you can use one of the Skywards + lounge access vouchers to access the First lounge ? (They are effectively the same monetary value @ $150)

I realise that the T’s & C’s mention business lounges but just wondered if anyone had tried this as its a good way for Gold members to benefit from the Lounge vouchers other than using them when you have multiple guests.

Cheers

Adding to this ……. I have also booked and paid for a solo ticket for my wife to the UK (She’s not Skywards +) . I added the booking to my app just to keep track of it and upgraded her on the return leg using our family account points and the skywards+ discount has also been applied to this one. Difficult to know the reason why this would qualify (because of the family account ? Because I paid or because it was in my app) either way a good result.

Burned as well. Tried changing my flight and was informed: "“The Skywards+ Classic Rewards discount is non‑refundable and will not be re‑applied if the flight details change or the relevant flights are cancelled. Once the Skywards+ Classic Rewards has been availed by a Skywards+ Member it shall not be available thereafter.” Pretty close to a bait and switch. Advertise 20% discount but so many ways to lose it and never get that benefit.
