They were enrolled but with no success. Flight was fully booked in First.

Ahh shame, so you got the one upgrade month/s in advance and then waited and waited for the other two, and in the end even in the airport & on board there was never any availability for either of them and the flight presumably left with a full First cabin?

Yup. Thankfully my wife didn't accept me being next to the little one as she always think I might make a mess of things. So she gave me her ticket in First.
