First & Business class , cabin baggage wording
Hello all,
Emirates seem to have an interesting way of labelling their cabin luggage, in that a 'handbag' is larger than a 'briefcase'. Does it really matter what type of 'bag' it is as long as it fits within the guidelines? First Class and Business Class passengers are permitted two pieces of carry‑on baggage: one briefcase plus either one handbag or one garment bag, all subject to the following size and weight limitations: Briefcase: 45 x 35 x 20cm (18 x 14 x 8 inches) Handbag: 55 x 38 x 20cm (22 x 15 x 8 inches) |
IME, EK rarely care about bags in F.
I travel with a Rimowa and Keepall HLO and it’s never been an issue. Even at Australian ports where they weigh the bag and paper tag them (not luggage tags), the check in staff always say “Don’t worry.” I could never work out the purpose of the paper tag and generally remove them in the lounge pre boarding. Gate agents never look for them. |
I too was puzzled by the word "handbag" but I assume they mean "hand baggage" or "carry on case", which it would be from the dimensions.
For the record, had no problems taking a standard carry on case and stuffed backpack into J on any segment. |
