EK 211 diverted to DME
 

Hi all,

It seems that EK211 DXB-IAH on 01.08.22 has been diverted to DME. My mom is flying EK212 IAH to DXB and it seems to be delayed 1.5hr. Anyone know why it was diverted? IAH airport website says the flight has left DME and is expected to arrive at IAH around 19:30 local time, but I cannot see this info elsewhere.

That length of diversion is often for a medical emergency, assuming that there's no need for a fuel stop or to avoid extremely bad weather. A mechanical problem would probably require more time and parts availability at DME would be expected to be problematic.

or perhaps a dissident on the flight that current regime wants to apprehend - anything goes there these days..

That's quite rare these days, a non stop flight from Moscow to the US!

I'm sure the US origin passengers were somewhat apprehensive taxiing into DME!
