Manchester A380

Hi all,

Travelling on Monday to Dubai from Man in First, it's currently saying the lounge is closed, and no other lounge option - is this right?? I can't even book paid lounge access, as there are no time slots available.

I'm sure i'd read somewhere you get a £20 voucher to spend at the paid for lounge

Also can someone confirm whether on-board bar is open? Emirates website says yes, emirates e-mail says 'social areas are closed' (or does this not refer to the plane?!)

Cheers

Yes, no lounge at MAN at the moment. You can try and use the £20 voucher to gain access to the Escape lounge, but that's not guaranteed.

The on-board bar is open, but there are capacity limits. The Social Area may mean the small bar area at the front - this may not be set up.

Great, thanks for your fast reply! Can the £20 be used in the other bars/cafes then I guess? I assume they issue you with this at check in?

Longton Oct 29, 2021 4:57 am

The voucher can be used at cafes but not for the purchase of alcohol.

The voucher is issued at check in.

We did this route yesterday. £20 voucher can be used for Escape lounge. Check-in desk didn’t even refer to voucher by value, simply said use this in Escape lounge. Sign outside lounge said no entry unless pre-booked, but we got in fine. We left after 20mins as pretty unimpressive.

On-board bar was open. Full J flight, F had five pax, we wandered down and found a seat.

It's a real shame about the lounge at MAN. It was a great start to a holiday :(

I wonder if the lounge in T2 is still planned? Doubt it somehow.

What's the mask policy in the bar area? Only remove when you take a sip or bite?

not sure what official policy is, I kept mine hanging off one ear while sat down in bar drinking, no complaints. Bit grey when drinking/eating - how long between bites or sips is too long to be mask free?

The Emirates lounge was the only nice part about flying from Terminal 1. (I used to do all my colour photocopying in the small business centre and hardly ever saw anybody in there.)

Without the lounge, it becomes an even grimmer experience.

Are there Emirates lounges open at Birmingham or Heathrow?

I do love your username, what would you be doing in Bham or London! To your question, the EK lounge at Heathrow is, I am not sure at BHX, isnt somewhere i like to fly from

Yes, LHR lounge is definitely open, including boarding from the lounge. Was there 5 weeks ago.

DYKWIA Oct 30, 2021 3:32 pm

MAN/BHX/GLA are all still closed.

I've been on about 6/7 roundtrips since the pandemic. And I usually keep my mask off for very long periods of time in J (while I have a glass of something near me).

Never once been commented upon by the crew.

Haha, I'm generally flexible in terms of starting airport, I just want to maximise my experience as best as I can. London offer A380 First Class too, so with the lounge, may be the best option in the current climate, save I am nervous about the long queues on arrival, which is why more regional airports can be better.
