Help with EK 77W Seating
Can someone please advise if any of the EK boeing 777 currently servicing the USA have flat beds in business class? EK advertises flat beds on their site for all buss routes but we all know that is false. I tried seat guru and expert flyer but its not accurate plus I do understand the last minute possibilities of aircraft swap. Is there a site or list of routes being serviced by the new boeing 777?

Hi there,
I write further to my other post. As I'm visually impaired I'm not able to see the seat maps for aircraft to pick my seat and would be grateful for your help. I was wondering if anyone could recommend the best window seats on an Emirates Boeing 777-300? My mum's travelling with me so we'd like to sit together, plus it makes it easier for her to help me if needed during the flight. If we need to sit one behind the other we'd take that as well. However, I'd like to be away from the wings blocking any view from the window and on the top deck of the aircraft and that's where I need the help with the seat maps. Could anyone please suggest seat numbers I can try to reserve for our flight? I'd also like to be on the left hand side of the plane, so in seats J or K. Thanks very much in advance for your help. All the best for now and take care. Hussein. |

I think I’d rather gamble on loads being quiet and try to grab a row of four in economy over sitting in an EK 777 J seat. I was in one for 5 hours a few days ago and that was long enough, never mind a US-DXB flight.

Have you watched the video of the new premium economy? There isn't much difference between it and a 777 J seat... I find it more comfortable lay across four economy seats.
If I lay on 4 economy, I'd be on the floor the first time I rolled onto my side :) |

If you put the flight numbers into flightradar or similar, look for tail numbers A6-EPV onwards for the fully flat. Prior to that they are angled, but still flat.

Yeah not sure why a "world class" airline cant refresh or run newer aircrafts on 5 plus hour flights. Should be no excuse for it. Was hoping to burn my Alaska miles prior to March, have a bad feeling those stop overs will be eliminated or charts will get devalued once they join Oneworld. Would burn it on SQ but those awards have been pulled off from partner sites

Apart from the fact the J seat is fully flat, is wider and has a ton more legroom you mean? And when the seat in front reclines, it reclines into your space.

This fully flat remark people use to defend EKs 777 J seat is none sense. You are still at an angle and feel like you are being pushed down your seat when you are trying to sleep.
At least with using four seats in economy you don't have to climb over anyone to use the bathroom... No one would seriously take 4 y seats over a J seat for a long flight. The seats are comfortable enough to sleep in and the service and TV is miles better. |

If anything, the flatbed B777 and A380 seats are angled backwards, with your feet slightly above your head (which isn't good for sleeping). There was one guy on the BA forum that used to insist on sleeping the wrong way round - with his head at the end of the bed. Some cabin crew were OK with that, some insisted it was a safety issue. I'm no fan of the EK B777 J seat, and I'll actively avoid it, but to say it's worse than Y or PE is just "none sense". Or as Phil Collins would say :- https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...64ad2e28da.png |

The angle of the B777 J seat is slight. When you consider that a B777 flies with a ~3 degree nose up attitude, it's effectively horizontal. So, when you say you "feel" as if you're being pushed down, it's just that - a "feeling".

The TV wasn't mentioned - no debate with that, however, taking an aisle seat just means you have someone climbing over you.. not ideal when the individual next to you lacks some basic personal hygiene. Flown much out of TUN?
Queer and now Nonce... people get thrown in FT jail for far less! I rarely fly solo these days so my annoying neighbour is my son or wife 😂 |

But I have no ‘old man bladder problem’ (yet). I go to the toilet once before I go to sleep and that’s it. My flights are usually 9 hours (CPT/DXB vv). Do I prefer the A380? Yes. On the few routes where they fly both aircraft I’ll go for the 380 if I can. But this ranting against the 77W product is ‘snowflake behaviour’ if you ask me. |

Exactly. I have flown many many miles in 77W J seats ans have always slept well. Never found myself being ‘pushed down’

be sure to let the IO team know your preference and they’ll be sure to accommodate your request for your 77w flights.

You were pulling out the 'I'm offended" card a few weeks back to a joke comment not even directed at you, now you are accusing me of snow flake behaviour? It is hardly a rant. I find sleeping across 4 economy seats more comfortable as opposed to a 777 J seat and at the moment there is a good chance of getting 4 seats to yourself (my routes). Also if you are only going for one slash in 9 hours you really need to start hydrating more.
Yes and no belly overhang! |

Not sure what your obsession with IO is, but I've already done that and have a row of 3 blocked on my flights.

Indeed.
Jealousy, pure and simple Back to topic - 77w J is fine for shorter flights - longer ones it needs to be F. 380 J is better with the direct aisle access. |
