b) any news when EK will cut the LHR rotation in the light of recent developments? Guess 4x 380 seems to be an expensive way to fly hot air (once all the Brits are back from their Xmas holiday)

You'll probably see EK 5/6 and perhaps EK 29/30, chopped for a few weeks or months. Passenger demand ex the UK has really dried up right now.

Just as MAN had gone back to 10 weekly A380. :(

I suspect it will go back something similar to the Autumn schedules. MAN/GLA/BHX back to 3 weekly B777. LHR daily B777.

Anyway, just realised that this isn't the rumour thread :)

I believe you'll most likely be correct. Schedules seem to be changing on a whim, just ask a Boeing pilot.

I am hearing that a new commercial plan extending to the end of the summer is in the works... perhaps we'll see that published in the next few weeks. The good news, and with perhaps some inherent bias, is that there's supposed to be plenty more A380s flying over the summer.

In the mean time however, EK has been banned from HKG for another two weeks until Jan 22.

Could you clarify for me... EK being banned from HKG, is that specific to HKG or to all of mainland China?? And would one presume this lock-out (regardless if only HKG or all of China) to be a rolling target with no certainty to how much farther out into the future the lock-out might last?

According to EK’s updated website : “As per the latest authority directive in Hong Kong, customers holding tickets on flight EK 384 with final destination to Hong Kong from 9 – 22 January 2021, will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin.”

Passengers travelling to Bangkok as the final destination will be accepted for travel.

However, Emirates assured that flights from Hong Kong have not been disrupted, and customers booked to travel on flight EK 385 from Hong Kong during this period will continue to be accepted for travel.

Hong Kong is China, why do you think those pins disappeared from uniforms?

The Chinese objected to the Taiwanese flag on the pins is what was reported at the time. Was the HK flag ever there?

Yes, I realize Hong Kong is part of China.... I was just trying to figure out if the travel restriction was applicable to all of China, or was it specifically limited to HKG... possibly somehow tied to the political issues currently present in HKG.... or was the travel restriction to HKG (and possibly all of China) a limitation do to CoVid or something. My reason for inquiring is I have a personal trip upcoming for Nov 2021 and looking to get my air travel arrangements lined up... I know that with the pandemic still raging on across the globe, that nothing is certain that far out at this point in time.

Wonder if the 772 will be permanent on the DFW-DXB route.

I think it will eventually go back to a 77W, who knows about A380 though.

They need to stop flying the older 77w on long haul flights. Those biz seats are outdated, uncomfortable and embarassment

Now in the schedules effective next week:

LHR down to 4x daily. EK29/30 cut. 3/4 remain 380s for now.
MAN down to 6x weekly. Still remains 380.
BHX down to 4x weekly.
GLA down to 4x weekly.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 9:58 am.
