Flying out of sequence / POS IT
 

Has anyone here made use of the POS IT "loophole" (rather, the law) to fly coupons out of sequence? Inspired by this thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trav...-sequence.html

While it seems possible, how easy or difficult was this to accomplish in practice?

What makes this even more appealing is this:

Intresting, on the web it's not possible to book depatures outside of Italy, maybe a agent or local EK office. Would be intresting to learn and the fare differance

Interestingly there wont be any fare difference! I'm very tempted to try this out.

AFAIK the only way you'll get an Italy place of sale for a ticket that doesn't depart from Italy is to use a travel agent. When buying from the call centre or website, place of sale will always be the point of origin. (Not sure what will happen if you walk into the EK city office in Italy, although there's every chance they'll say no for any ticket not ex-Italy).

I wish you luck, but even if you could issue the tickets, I would speculate that one of two things will happen reasonably quickly in case of "abuse" of this loophole - either (i) you will face consequences as a passenger (e.g. closure of Skywards account, blacklisting), and/or (ii) the travel agent will stop issuing these tickets for you, after receiving warnings from EK.

I have bought EK ticket starting from other country at EK ticket desk in MXP airport.. was no problem, helpful staff there when I was there at when they werent busy.

It sounds like you could use a similar dodge as with tickets sold in Brazil a few years ago. I booked those on Expedia's Brazil site for travel ex UK, and a mate booked ex BKK and we both used them no problem. I also had a couple of other Brazilian TAs in my favourites that are probably still there that priced them up no problem.

Ours had to be on QF flight numbers (as it was their anomaly that gave rise to them) so that maybe helped keep them low profile and less likely to attract attention.
