Dedicated passenger 777ER (cargo only) network has been set up in addition to freighter network. Makes total sense, airfreight is booming.

Yes, and of course just grounding the 77W fleet would substantially reduce freight capacity. So this seems the best (only?) option to address that.

Maybe being grounded for the foreseeable in the UAE adds to these feelings, but I find it genuinely sad to see so many aircraft parked, when they should be carrying passengers and cargo all around the world.

I can't help but feel that it will be a very different world once this unprecedented period of stoppage in global transport comes to an end.

=====
On a more practical note, any guesses when the UAE flights grounding and visitor ban might be lifted?

No because EK already reduced requirements to 80% and is giving 20% bonus tier if you fly till 30 June (albeit now you can't take advantage of that)

Extended?? Not for me. They've apparently reduced mine so it'll expire April 2021 whereas if they'd left things as is I had already requalified and would have been Gold until October 2021. Now when they look back a year in April 2021 my re-qualifying flights will have fallen off the re-qual period. At least when they started this with 3 and 6 month extensions you had to opt in to take advantage. Now they know "my time is valuable they're doing it automatically" so I can't avoid it. Crazy.

I've already had 6 months added and it wouldn't surprise me if that got increased.

I see vouchers can now be cashed in after a year if your unable to use them.

I copied and saved the list just before it was removed from the EK commercial website. I reposted it here as it gives some insight into the thinking of the Commercial department, just before the total shutdown, of when they, at the time, believed the flights would start to run again.

To be clear, The dates listed are the dates they thought the flights would be SHUT DOWN and not the dates they would run. The end date is when they believed they could start flying again.

How far out has EK canceled flights??

I'm seeing that my outbound flight from EWR to ATH in late June has disappeared from my list of upcoming flights on the EK website. Has EK already canceled these flights through the end of June? I booked through a travel agent and I've been unable to reach the agency to see what's going on.
