I would deal with Expedia, EK may not be as willing to help and suggest either you cancel or rebook

If it exceeds 24 hours, you are no longer in transit and hence EK will not provide accommodation

I wouldn’t expect much. I had a schedule change where I went from a 3 hour transit to an 18 hour and I was never offered Dubai Connect for a paid First Class ticket.

And with EC261, since you were informed more than 14 days prior to departure you wouldn’t get comp even if it was eligible.
