Duplicate booking

Currently am booked in RT Y BOS-DXB. I'd like to purchase a separate DXB-BOS in J, using Alaska miles, on the same flight as my Y DXB-BOS return. Will my award ticket be automatically cancelled? If so, can I wait until I've flown the outbound to cancel the return (with no refund expected), and then book the award?

No ideas?

so the chances of it auto-cancelling if I book before flying the outbound (and then cancelling the return) are pretty high? Don’t want to lose the award space but it is what it is, if so.

Can you not use the miles to upgrade.

It's a Saver fare, so I assume I can only upgrade at check-in. Don't really want to chance it.

Have you asked Emirates whether there is a way round this.

i would have thought there was no problem in having two bookings on the same flight and using the award one on the way back and being a no show on the original. I am assuming you have to return on that flight and can’t book the ward for a different flight

HOWEVER I am just applying logic not knowledge

Duplicate bookings need to be cancelled 1 month before departure, I've had this happen more than once. No idea what booking they will cancel if you don't respond.
