Wondering any of you recommend purchasing insurance offered by Emirates/ AIG when flying form NYC to COK. I have a very high likelihood of not making the return flight. But the one way is only 50$ less than round trip. Any suggestions or experiences with the insurance.

Not sure what you're trying to achieve, even with insurance you'll get next to nothing back as a refund if you do decide to use a return ticket as a one way.

If you are already aware of the circumstances that will prevent you from flying the return flight then the insurance will not cover it—it only covers unexpected and unanticipated events outside of your control.
