Since been a few weeks now of service resumptions, has anyone spotted any review of how the new onboard service looks like? Really curious to see how it compares with QR, TK and their other competitors

I had tried searching (here, google, etc) for this for Emirates specifically, but if I booked an AS award with SFO-DXB in J, and onward DXB-MLE in economy, will we be able to have business lounge access in DXB?

No, lounge eligibility is determined by the cabin class of the departing flight, not the incoming one. So unless you have the required status with EK (or QF), you won't have lounge access.

With status, as mentioned, and also available with payment. Roughly $100 USD IIRC.

maybe we are going off topic here but I would really advise spending against that money for the J lounge, its a total zoo (200usd for F lounge is ridiculous too! Unless u go there the night before to get some free dinner and wine)

I don't think the lounges will become zoos again for at least a couple of years...

First time business class, chauffeur questions and airmiles
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for having me here.
I have a few questions if you could be so kind to help.
We intend to fly to Tokyo on Business class next year, world health permitting. It will be myself. DH, DS17, DD15 and DD11, so 5 passengers.
1) a)With the chauffeur option, I read on the website that they only drive adults, is that correct, or will they take a family of 5?
b) If they do take a family of 5, is it only to the departing ariport, or will they take you from the airport to your hotel the other end as well?
c) If not both ends, then i guess just to and from you home and both end of the trip?
2) Airmiles
a) I have no idea how airmiles work. We have previously flown with JAL but no idea if or how we may have earned any airmiles, can someone give me a brief intro to it all please?
A380 and 777ER
We have the option to go on the 777 to Haneda, or the A380 to Narita. From looking at videos, the A380 looks like a much nicer aircraft and business class. The prices are the same, but it seems like the 777 is a lesser product.
3)a) Does it really matter?
Thank you so much!

A few quick answers:
Cauffeur drive applies to both ends of your trip in business or first class, with the limitation that Business ‘special’ fares don’t qualify for CD (and not for lounge access or seat reservations either). Be aware that not every airport has chauffeur drive (I think one of the Tokyo airports does not, the other one does) and that there are mileage limitations. You’ll find all the information on the Emirates website.
Each adult in a booking can get his / her own car. Normally for a couple, one would obviously only book one car and share it, but in your case you may want to book two cars and share the kids between the two cars. Kids can’t have their ‘own’ car, but it’s perfectly ok for them to share with you. Some stations have bigger cars (like minibuses), you would have to call the EK number to find out.
Emirates ‘airmiles’ are called Skywards. If you plan to use the airline regularly it’s worth signing up for the programme. If it’s a once off, there is no real benefit. Look on the website for the benefits of a family account.
A380 vs 777: yes, the A380 business class product is better than the 777 one. Some people say they’ll ‘never fly 777 on EK’. I personally can handle the 777 fine, but given the choice I would opt for the A380. It may be that the A380 flies to the non CD Tokyo airport, I would have to look that up (someone more familiar with that route might respond). In that case yiu’d have to weigh up A380 vs CD.
Hope this helps for starters, I’m sure others will join in the conversation.

You are right, the A380 lands at Narita, which oddly has an Emirates lounge, but does not offer CD. Strange!
Looking forward to reading more responses and learning more👍🏻

They probably don't offer CDD/CDA because of the huge cost, taxis, let alone nice sedans, can easily run $250 one way to Tokyo.

Has anyone upgraded two connecting sectors on a married segment (for ex. LON DXB ICN), flew the first sector (LON DXB) then cancelled the upgrade on the second sector (DXB ICN)? Will you get a refund for that sector or is this non refundable?

My chaffeur drive didn't show up. Wrote in and only got the taxi fare back and 20.000 miles. How do I extract more money out of EK?

I think that's more then reasonable. What exactly were you looking for? They paid for your taxi and gave you a decent compensation.
