How to upgrade flight booked by corporate travel agent
 
I’ve got Y seats and want to pay to upgrade to J. When I go on the “Upgrade Flights” section of the Emirates App it says my itinerary “can’t be changed online” and I have to contact my local office.

Any way around this so that I can upgrade directly with Emirates, as I don’t want to go through my corporate TA? Thanks

Try the call centre. I can't promise that they will be able to assist as I have never done this, but certainly worth trying. They are normally very helpful.

Corporate TA retains control of the booking until T-24hrs, then Emirates will have control

A customer can sometimes pay the carrier (typically about US$50) to take over a travel agent booking. This might not be allowed by your corporate TA or corporate travel policy, and in some cases the TA is automatically informed that this has been done, so be careful especially if your employer frowns on employees paying to upgrade from Y to J.

Unfortunately i have quite a lot of experience with this as our corporate TA bookings cannot be changed by EK ticket desk or call centre until after the outbound flight has been flown.

All of my EK flights were booked by our Corporate TA. Thankfully my firm were quite flexible in letting me pay to upgrade myself but it all had to be done via our Corporate TA until the first leg had been flown then EK could do any changes.

If you don’t mind saying, is there any reason why you wouldn’t want to go through your CTA?

Ah, how frustrating! So I won't have have the option to upgrade at OLCI for the outbound leg?
