Emirates A380 vs 777, first class. Old vs. new?

Hoping to book first class using Alaska miles. Is there an “old” vs. “new” first class on both A380 and 777? If so, how can you tell the difference and which is the “newer” first class I should try to book. Currently have on hold first class on A380-800, IAD-DXB, so wondering if I should keep it or try to book on a 777. However, not sure if there’s a difference among A380-800s and 777-300ER. Finally, is A380 better or 777-300er?

All A380s are the same, just the newer ones have more updated IFE. The 77W has a 8-cabin F vs 14 on A380, so can feel more personal, but on the A380 you get the shower and onboard bar as well as a quiter cabin experience, if it's your firs time stick to the A380.

The newest F is only on the 77W, but very few frames have it and they don't fly to IAD.

But I can try to rebook flying out of LAX, or SFO which is my preference but they aren’t the A380-800, so if the 777 is better I’d probably consider that option, if I can distinguish the newer 777.

I think you need to do some very basic research. A quick look would tell you that LAX doesn't have EK 777, let alone one with new F.

Skywardhunter summarized the main differences between the 2 airframes. As for which is better, that's subjective, but I do like the shower on the A380

+1. The shower + sipping Dom at the bar on the A380 outweighs any incremental benefit the "new" 777 F suite would have imho.

The new F does not fly to any point in the Americas. New J on the 777 yes, but definitely not the new F.

So I have a DXB-IAH flight on March 9 booked in F and was originally supposed to be A380 - just took a look at expert flyer to see how full the cabin was and its now showing new 777 F. Went to manage my booking on EK website and its definitely the new F seat-map - anyone know about an equipment change on this route?

Yes. It is a temporary change. The 380 will back in service effective June 1.

Interesting change. Checked EF and indeed showing 6F for that date (assuming you meant May 9). IAH changing to a 77W for about a month by looks of it but most dates seem to be with old F so might just be a one off.

Interesting - yes indeed, I meant to say May! I haven't flown on the new 777 F yet, so fingers crossed it doesn't get equipment swapped to old F - that would suck.
