Without A380, Emirates will be second class airline. The new order of 333, 350 and 777x should be opportunity to introduce new layout. Also 777 should get a bar like Virgin Australia.

Indeed, never knew, cool! But they only have 6, so not quite the same as EK's 250+

SIA and CPA come to mind as all-widebody airlines; though if you consider SilkAir or Cathay Dragon, then that mixes in narrowbodies.

And if going by that comparison, Emirates has FlyDubai as their regional arm, so the point is moot.

Grabbing on to the wrong, apparently incorrect little trivia, but FZ is not owned by Emirates Group

Correct, though both of them have the same Chairman and are owned by Dubai Government - through one of the investment vehicles.

Cargolux is a larger airline that only operates wide bodies. But not quite the same as EK.

Not twin aisles though technically since they have no aisles

VS is currently all-widebody with 44 aircraft, although this will change once the flybe acquisition is complete

XL Airways France is another example of a smaller operator limited to passenger widebodies; there must be others... [Edited to add] Air Belgium is one more.

Yes. But they are separate companies, without a common holding structure. In the same way BA is not Qatar's UK extension just because they own a part of IAG, even though that is a much more direct link

If we're getting technical, then you technically said 'wide body' not 'twin aisle.'

Not really a good comparison since QR only owns 20% of IAG, which is not anywhere close to a controlling stake. EK and FZ are both owned and controlled outright by the Dubai government.

Mod Alert

Folks, can we stay on topic, please. Either we discuss the A380 campaign or I close the thread and you discuss Wide Body airlines in the appropriate forum.

Thanks

Off-topic but that sounds mildly ageist to me. Some flight crew of either gender may look haggard but it's the quality of their service that counts, not their looks

The A380 is certainly an iconic aircraft, and I agree with the comments about it being 20 years too early. Passenger numbers are increasing at a faster rate than available airport slots, and I'm convinced that a firm need for this kind of aircraft will appear down the track.
