Please post your 2019 Operational Upgrade Experiences in this thread.

Around the middle of 2016, Emirates modified their Operational Upgrade Policy favouring type of ticket over status holders, giving non status passengers on Flex and Flex Plus tickets an advantage over (for example) Silver members on a Saver ticket. During the latter half of 2016, less Op Ups were reported but we would still like to hear when they happen.

Link to the 2018 thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/emir...post-here.html

Please use the following format for ease of reading and of course, discussion is still welcome.

Example:

Upgrade given: Y - J

Upgrade location: Gate

Route: BKK-DXB

Flight number: EK385

Type of ticket: Saver

Date of travel: 06/09/18

Tier status: Gold

Tier miles to date: 18,000

Skywards miles balance: 80,000

Number of pax on the same PNR (Including OP): 1

Number of pax upgraded: 1

No upgrade and no empty seats apparently. Just a full flight. Not sure why they bother with the choice of choosing your seat when every seat is blocked before olci, but there you go. Going to be a sore 14 hours.

I've never had an opup from Emirates, despite being Platinum for the last couple of years

Great upgrade! 7A is my favourite J seat on the 77W, despite the missing window

Didn't realise 7 was a J seat on the A380 but I supposed it is, thinking about it now

Yes, row 7 is the front row on the 3 class 380. Had 7K 5 weeks ago on the newest one. Great seat! (although a long walk to the bar.... )

(7K is my favourite J seat on the 77W too)

I feel your pain I have never had an op-up - I have been flying with EK since 2010 but only really a FF for the last 6 years, gold the last 4 years. However I am never really in a position to get one. I either fly J saver or purchase a Y flex+ and upgrade with miles. I only have one situation to complain about where I was on a J flex+ and did not get an upgrade to first on an oversold flight.

However for an up coming flight in Y are the following loads and the flight is still 17 days away. What will most likely happen is the first one will be an equipment swap to a 2 class and ruin my chances knowing my luck!
