New Airbridge Attached
This wasn’t there when I arrived 2 weeks ago but there is now a new airbridge attached to the regular EK gate. Can’t see the other side from my spot in the BA Lounge to see what the other side is like.

Folk over at Glasgow airport must be kicking themselves with the recent news of A380’s going down the drain.
the investment for the airbridges and changes at the airport (bigger / wider runway) costing approx 13 million pounds. Tim clark has said that they will be fine with the current A380’s until the 2030’s but with this news, how many of the current fleet will be optimised for heavier routes than Glasgow? This coupled with the fact that EK plan to only run the A380 service seasonally isn’t ideal.
Food for thought.

Just checked the [junk] inbox and seen special offers on the upcoming A380 route.
Tempted to go on the first flight out, anyone got anything booked?
Would this be the first ever FT 35,000 bar meetup - I guess no other route would have qualified anyways :P

Conveniently planned strike by employees at Glasgow airport on the 16th, check in desk and baggage handlers aren’t affected apparently.

Coming back home a few weeks ago from our regular trip down under the driver was saying things are up in the air for the current provider of limos - putting an A380 on means potentially needing (rough guess) up to 50 more vehicles and drivers to cater for over 100 pax compared to 777 pax - and for a while it will be once a day rather than the 2 as at present. What happens if Emirates then take the A380 off and go back to 2 flights a day on 777's? TBR's contract was up for renewal apparently and the A380 could either put a spanner in the works or a huge investment in new vehicles. Anyone have an update on the situation?

You'll find a lot of the drivers are self-employed anyway - so the CD companies don't own all the cars.
