Indeed no shame - the only criteria is that you are not depriving others of their meal.

Even in economy recently on Thai Smile I was able to have two meals and whilst I would not use the word fantastic to describe them very welcome they were.

I usually get dessert from F, and if I ask for one whisky they will get me three.
The only odd thing is the seat thing that others mentioned above. I was actually stopped once halfway down the aisle, because they insisted on escorting me to my seat. I am surprised they did not hold my hand and tie the belt for me xD

This is standard procedure for F, and there is nothing to be embarassed as a maximum of 7 pax (one row) will see you during this uncomfortable moment.
It is always the same story : some complain that this is not necessary, and others will complain if this "service" is taken out.
My embarrassment comes from not wanting to stand out. I just don't like it, that's just me. Others like yourself enjoy it, and that's fine too

Excellent idea. I wouldn't want you to think that I don't appreciate that they have a job to do. I'm not put out. The word I used was embarrassed.

You may be a bit too paranoid, I doubt the pax around you are paying attention to your name as it is mispronounced (probably) by the FA at the door.

I usually just get a Mr "firstname" and they don't even bother trying the last name (not that it's a super hard one)

I agree with you.

Thank you and I should have said Emirates would argue there are too many passengers in business to do this but it does not have to be the cabin manager doing this and the task can be divided up among the crew

I believe the SOP is that the cabin crew looking after you is supposed to introduce himself (to your seat pair at least, if not individually), ask if you need help with your seat/IFE, etc. (a smart one would check your status and skip the Seat/IFE bit if you're a regular).

So if no crew welcomed you at all on that recent flight, I don't think they followed procedure.

they did after we had taken off but what had particularly got me was that the cabin manager had gone to the passenger behind me who presumably had status prior to take off leaving me with the impression that they were not pleased to see me and that I would be receiving inferior service. In the ideal world the crew would work their way through the cabin introducing themselves etc and perhaps tailoring their message to recognise status.

Now I know this is about perceptions and I would like to stress that overall the service on all my 4 legs was excellent so lets not get it out of proportion

Has the policy/procedure changed? I have noticed that, in the last 4-6 months, I get much less frequently the personal greeting than before, about 50% of the times at most.
Before, I would say about 80% of the times.

In Y? No, I get it most of the time, some routes more than others, also depends on whether I'm asleep, I've found that when I'm asleep the fast track card (if in bound to DXB) is usually in my seat pocket when I wake up. Always wonder what the pax next to me think (I'm usually in window) when they are asked to put it there and don't get one themselves

In J I recently got a note from the purser to say I was asleep and she had stopped by and if I needed anything to let the team know which was new to me and I thought was a very nice touch (It had my name handwritten and her name signed by hand as well).

I'm not aware it has changed. It seems to happen on almost every flight, unless I manage to spot the greeter moving down the cabin in enough time to get the earplugs in and pretend to be asleep.
