1.5 hour DXB connection
Haven’t flown EK much in a while, so not sure how much connections in DXB have changed. I’m looking to fly BLR-DXB-JFK with a 1.5 hour connection, arriving 7am from BLR, departing 8:30am to JFK. Will be in F so i know if we get a remote stand from BLR I’ll have the F bus which will speed things up somewhat, but is 1.5 hours enough time?
What are chances that a 77W from the subcontinent will end up at a remote stand at that time of day? If i knew we’d be going to a real gate I wouldn’t be as worried but I remember those 20+ minute drives from the aircraft to terminal a few years ago. If we’re delayed 30 min that could mean missing the JFK flight.
So thoughts?

I’ve flown that same flight from BLR-DXB several times, most recently a few weeks back. We arrived at B then. Last time prior to that we arrived at a remote stand. Hard to predict I’d say!
Both those times I’ve successfully made my onward flight to BOS with a 75 minute connection without issue.’ I’ve flown this route many times though can’t recall if I would have been on similar connection schedules, but regardless have never missed my onward flight or otherwise felt like things were really close.
FWIW I was in J or F and was quick to get off the plane

I think EK schedules connections with about 60 minutes these days so you should be fine as long as you go directly to your gate with no stops in the lounge.
The likelihood of a bus gate in the early AM arrival bank is relatively high but not because of your origin, but because of the congestion. It's pretty much a lottery - I've arrived and departed from a bus gate for pretty much every city pair I've flown - subcontinent, NA, Asia, Africa, whatever.
If your flight is arriving late and you arrive at a jetbridge, they will have people with signs for your onward flight to escort you through transit security. If you arrive at a bus gate, there will again be someone with signs for your onward flight and a separate bus to take you directly to the concourse where your flight is departing from (instead of dumping you directly into B).
And, since you're in F, there might be a car instead.
If for some reason you miss your connection due to the inbound flight being late, they'll be pretty proactive in booking you on another flight (of which there are 5 daily to NYC).
If you miss your flight and are holding a duty free bag, however...

Exactly what Metanoia says, it's certainly not within Emirates interest to have passengers misconnect and clearly they believe 60 minutes is okay. Worst case if you are late, don't rush as you'll be rebooked to the next flight and can relax for a few hours in the lounge.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I’ve gone ahead and booked this. Let’s hope all goes as planned!
Since you’ve taken this flight before I have a question about traffic in Bangalore. Never been there before, and I’ve heard it could take a long time to get from the city to the airport. I’ll be staying at the Sheraton Brigade center or whatever it’s called if you’re familiar with that area. Do you think having the chauffeur drive pick me up at 1:30am is enough for the 4:30 flight? Doubt traffic will be bad in the middle of the night but thought I’d ask just to be safe!

That should be enough time. I usually stay closer to Cubbon Park and get picked up at 1. You’ll be a bit closer. There is no traffic to speak of at that hour but the airport is in full swing. You’ll find several other international flights departing at the same time, but check in and security will move fast with that F ticket you have.
I am familiar with where you’re staying, though I’ve never stayed there. The mall next door has some good restaurants nearby. Check out District 6 if you’re into brew pubs; good food & beer.

Even though 1.5 sounds long, at Dubai it is not. Couple that with EK closing the door early sometimes, be sure you go directly to your connecting gate as soon as you can. If you’re even a little behind schedule, you may have to run.
Hopefully the flight to JFK leaves from the F lounge so you can kill two birds with one stone and maybe get a nice drink and snack before boarding.

Do tell, I am trying to save my company $500 by taking a short connect. If i screw it up it's $800 no-show on me, so perhaps it's better that they buy my "insurance."

Remember that EK will book you on the next flight, and where possible they will give you a hotel. But also be aware that you won't get any EC261 comp if you're flying ex-USA as your location would suggest.

A frequent misconnect for me (3 times last year) was ex-EU landing in DXB 00:00-01:00. I found that in the busier months (July, December) there was always a bit more congestion at that time due to the afternoon departures from many EU destinations. Every time I had around 1.5h to make the connection, but as soon as we circled Dubai I knew I wouldn't make it.

I do But the flight inbound and outbound DXB are both EK, just my connecting flight at IAD would have been on AS and on a separate ticket (as the routing rules don't allow a connection at IAD on the EK ticket). Not worth saving my company a few bucks to be stressed tbh. They are, after all, the ones sending me halfway across the world.

Travel is for the end of this month. Hoping it works out! Worst case I guess they can put me on EK205 which goes through Milan, as it leaves about an hour after 201.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Dubai hotel by the A gates in terminal 3 when they missed a connection? I haven’t heard much about the hotel, and it’s not really advertised but I saw entrances for it.
