777-200LR First Class

Hi All,

Apologies if I have missed this somewhere - but I wanted to ask about first class on the 777-200LR fleet. As I understand it, the newest aircraft was delivered in 2009, making it virtually 9 years old.

I know it is a private suite, however what is the IFE system like? Have any of these aircraft had a refurb recently?

Thanks

I am sorry to inform you that EK are removing first class on the 777-200LR fleet. I have never flown on the -200LR so am not sure what first class ICE/IFE is installed, however i reckon and believe it is an older IFE system compared to what is on offer on the other 777-300ER's - aka not ICE digital.

It was just recently announced that the B77Ls will be refurbished which includes the removal of F and change of J from 7-abreast to 6-abreast

its decent enough - flown in this to Sez and Hnd a few times and it’s in better condition than the oldest 777s...

At the moment, the 777-200LR's have the original ICE widescreen, the same as the 2nd batch of 77W's and first batch of A380s. Assuming you're flying a 77L pre-reconfig, this is what you'll have.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I'm flying back home soon (Australia) and need to go to Brisbane for a couple of days for work purposes. The 77L's departure is a good time out of Dubai for me, however I I will most likely pick one of the other 2 flights.

If EK430 suits you timing wise, I would take it. The 77L F is fine, including ICE and it is probable that either of the 2 other flights may offer the same ICE.

I agree. The ICE is at worst digital widescreen which is still solid IMO. Interestingly enough, my last two scheduled 77L flights were both switched to 77Ws and they were both airframes with the latest ICE.

I heard rumours but where did they just announce this change to 6 abreast (which has long been overdue)

Tim Clark talked about it at the Dubai Air Show. It gets a mention here:

Shame they are not going to 1-2-1 like others but I shall be interested to see what the 2-2-2 layout brings.

I also heard that brilliantly awful plan to change their coffin world seats next year as well (that came from crew during a recent flight to LAS, they said they were on some panel/group and things were changing)

You must mean LAX as I am fairly certain EK doesn’t fly to LAS yet. Maybe the bling factor makes it a perfect match?

No I was making comment about another airline also updating their business product
Brilliantly Awful - BA
Coffin World - Club World

Sorry, I should have made it clear.
