Emirates has unveiled the new first class cabin for their 777s at the Dubai Air Show on November 12th, 2017.

Notably, the new F cabin is fully enclosed from floor to ceiling, has a reduction from 8 seats to 6 total, had virtual windows for the center cabins and features video-based room service ordering.

Who can confirm the type of seats in Business Cabin for DXB - MCO (EK 219 on Jan 1, 2022)?
Seat Guru says it's still the angle lie seats (old configuration/cabin for 777)
Emirates website says the 777 has been updated/redesigned.
Before we buy 4 seats and spend the $$$, would be nice to know with certainty!
TIA

Really neither site will be accurate. If it's a 77L which does frequent MCO- it's the new seat. If it's 77W probably old seat unless you get lucky.

That's not very encouraging since it doesn't seem like there is a guarantee on which type!
Business is 5x the price of economy and we have 2 kids under the age of 10 traveling with us, so its a big difference for the crappy old seats if that's what we get stuck with.

Thanks for the quick reply kq747.

Unfortunately it really is very much dependent on your luck as most EK 77W have the older seat. Prior to covid, many US routes could expect the new 77W seat or A380 better still, but it has been really unpredictable since March 2020.

Can I just confirm - as per the Wiki, that there are still only 9 777's operating the new F? As i'm using this as some guidance on a booking i'm looking to make. Seems like a very low number considering this was announced 4 years ago.

I believe the newest 77W in the current fleet was delivered in 2018. Presumably the plan was to start accepting 77Xs thereafter, but that has been delayed. EK hasn’t been big on retro-fitting (although I see they are doing so for PE on 100-odd aircraft), and I suppose that since the old F is a pretty decent, there’s no pressing need to do so.

I'm on EK209 this week (EWR-ATH) and the seat map recently changed to this:

Does this mean it is going to be the new first class? I never heard of this route having the new planes, so I'm a bit confused. How can I confirm and what are the chances it will change again?

Yes indeed. You just won the lottery. That is the new First Class cabin seating.
Unusual for this route so cross your fingers/pray that they don't swap planes.

Definitely looks like a one off since the seat map for Sunday is the only one in the next week with new First.
Interesting that EF shows the flight to be F4 A4 and you appear be the only passenger, despite the EK.com seat map which is notorious for blocking seats.
A simple call to EK will unblock 2A for you if you are interested.

I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed - please do the same for me Also, what exactly is F4/A4? Any reason to select 2A over 2K?

F4 A4 is the number of seats for sale in each fare class. F is full First, A is discounted First. F4 is the max you will see for EK even if there are 14 F seats (like on the A380).
2A is more private as there is a wall (the backside of 2F) across from it as opposed to the open door of 2F across from 2K. If there is no one in 2F, then it's not an issue.

Because of the cabin layout, in 2A, there is more privacy since the entrance to the seat to the right of you (2F) is from the other aisle. Sort of difficult to explain.
1A and 1E open next to each other, and 2K and 2F open next to each other. Next to 2A and 1K, there is a wall, which gives more privacy.
From 2A, there is technically no one seated right next to you. 2A is my preferred seat in the new F.

EK231 (IAD) will be getting the new F for most of December and January. Several dates have the old F, as these are dates where F was already sold 8/8.

MUC and DUS also have the new F scheduled periodically in December.

I don't remember, is there an HDMI port in the suite to plug in a laptop? If so, where is it located?

Thanks

Thumbs up

The new F is definitely on the DXB-IAD route. Managed to fly in it on 24th Dec as an upgrade from my business class seat. It was not full as there were only 2 of us there, but was definitely the best experience.

There is an HDMI port here in front left under desk panel (in Suite 2A). I did manage to hook my Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 into it and use Dex mode to view Netflix and other apps. The laptop HDMI also work in port. Very flexible use wise and sound carries via HDMI which can be toggled in settings on the screen.
