Getting a snooze in the First Class Lounge DXB
 

We are arriving into DXB on BA late in the evening, then flying to BKK at 0835 th efollowing morming. By the time we clear customs get our bags etc. we will have a decent number of hours in the lounge.

Have been before but don!t really remember anywhere to have a couple of hours snooze other than the big sofas, and I'm always a bit conscious that if you have a sleep on them you are kind of hogging them. I seem to remember seeing pictures of some loungers that looked very comfortable. Have I imagined that or is there somewhere more appropriate to sleep?

I'm also assuming that there will be no problem checking in for our F flight well in advance?

Most will say get a hotel, but if you're set on staying in the lounge, there's no need to clear customs, unless you have luggage (which you indicated). You can hire Marhaba to take care of the luggage and remain airside if you wanted. You can check-in and get the BP online/airside with EK.

The J lounge has semi-private snooze cubicles (A lounge at the far ends) with blankets which are decent if you get one. Not sure about the F lounge but won't be more than that AFAIK. You can use the J Lounge of course.

For check-in, you don't mention exactly how many hours but it may be an issue checking bags more than 3-4hrs in advance, but I'm not sure.

Was plannng on using Marhaba (for first time). We land 2310 Terminal 1, I didn't know you could remain airside.
Did debate hotel but it seemed a bit of a waste, especially as we'd want to arrive early in the F lounge anyway and enjoy all it has, we would end up being in the hotel for several hours only. However if we can't check bags in might have to reconsider things!

Marhaba has a service to collect and re-check bags which would overcome the EK check-in issue as I believe they would hold the bags. You can transit airside, there's a bus, not very First Class, I'm not sure if Marhaba have their own airside transport. I've done it in both directions, both times with no checked luggage and using online or airside check-in.

No idea how immigration is at T1 at that hour hi you could be at an airport by 12 or shortly after, get 5hrs of sleep and back at airport at 6am. Your call which you think is best, one argument is that you'll prefer the lounge when you're more rested and many will day more than 3hrs is too much as there isn't that much to do in the lounge. Best case you could head straight to lounge, eat dinner, go to hotel (landside or airside hotel inside T3) and back for breakfast

Le Meridian is a good option five minutes from the airport. It used to be a hotel used for Dubai connect not sure if it still is.

I'd say its a bit much getting off a flight, going eating in a lounge then going to a hotel to sleep. Three hours in the morning is more than enough to explore the lounge, if anything too long.

Dubai International Hotel is very expensive - usually 650 AED or more per night which is fine if someone else is paying but I would not pay it using my own money. Sure it is convenient (hence the price) but the room itself is nothing to write home about. You could consider the snooze cubes in T3 which are cheaper and you pay by the hour.

The bus between terminals can be cr*p - you go through security at flight connections and the bus then puts you off at terminal 3 arrivals meaning you have to go through flight connection security again. Mind you, is better no doubt then going through immigration and checking back in at T3.

Bottom line, get your luggage collected by Marhaba, go to the lounge, have a drink and a few hours kip, set the alarm for 5am and have a nice champagne breakfast before doing it all again on the plane

I remember B F lounge having a snooze area in a separate room. Around 7 loungers divided by curtains with the usual socks and eye masks. It was also very cold.

OP mentioned F lounge, which OP will be able to access with a F onward leg.

F lounge has a "quiet room" with several curved sofas. They are not flat, but many pax are sleeping on them. EK provides pillow, blanket, eyeshade.

Thanks, that sounds exactly what I've seen in pictures. It's 18 months since we were in the F lounge, maybe they are new.
