EK suspends flights to and from DOH - UAE cuts ties

It started with the news agencies being banned a few weeks ago,

Now I see that:

'The United Arab Emirates has given Qatari diplomats 48 hours to leave the country. Abu Dhabi accuses Doha of "supporting, funding and embracing terrorism, extremism and sectarian organisations," state news agency WAM said'

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-40155829

Does this mean EK will be picking up the extra traffic or can we expect to see re-routing?

Here it even says transport ties will be severed.

I have my ticket from Doha booked around Eid holiday. Does anyone know what would happen with my ticket? Would EK rebook me on other flights?

So far only EY are cancelling as they are the 'national carrier'. Nothing from EK yet.

As a "private" airline, not sure EK would cancel, unless UAE makes an executive decision to forbid all travel between the two countries.

Quite a shocking development in how severe it is. Very decisive action by the UAE and others.

At the moment it looks like there won't be any flights to DOH from the UAE, Saudi, Egypt or Bahrain.

Would Emirates rebook our tickets or for a full refund, though? Is it still possible to fly through a third country, say, on Turkish Airlines?

EK flights to DOH, as well as FlyDubai, flights in the process of being cancelled. Availability is now showing zero, which means that the flights won't be operated.

This is a pretty big diplomatic spat , wonder if we will see a quick kiss and make up situation or something that rolls out into something more severe ? EK/EY/QR and FlyDubai not going to be too pleased about this.

QR will be worst affected with flights to and over those countries affected. If KSA closes their airspace as well and if the UAE closure means overflight as well they're pretty screwed in terms of routing out of the region

Could the UAE be using this to damage QR and benefit their own airlines given the financial pressure both EY and EK are under?

Most defiantly a benefit for the UAE and I am sure the UAE had it in the back of their minds.
