For the anecdote, in November last year, I arrived at the airport (major European outstation) less than 30 min before an inbound flight, due to exceptionally heavy traffic. Boarding had already started when I showed up at check-in. Well, my checked baggage made it onboard. I still don't know how.

well the baggaed would've been first tagged on XX (the original flight, which he missed) and at the very last moment offloaded and hopefully retagged YY. I don't know EK's baggaged system, but from what I hear it's quite sophisticated and one would hope it could handle these kinds of changes which probably occur often, but this does strike me as a more complex use case where occasionally a system might fail.

They did find it eventually, perhaps the flight's controller forgot about that batch of luggage, perhaps it's stored in a separate location or something.

I had a similar adventure the last time I was in DXB.

Flight coming from Bangkok a bit late, had no gates available and went to remote parking place. There were buses waiting for us but more than half of the plane (a two class A380, so more than 300 people) was connecting to the Euro flights departing very soon. I almost lost my flight for two reasons:

- I was in the last connecting BUS. To make it better, the driver got lost (!!) and drove to the wrong concourse!
- When arriving at security there was a sudden influx of passengers from another flight.

After that me and the rest of the people coming from Bangkok ran to our gates knowing that we were already too late but we got lucky: the gates were all closed but all the planes and gate personnel were waiting for us.

:( Similar situation. Our luggage did not make our connection through DXB.

It's taken us 6 weeks thus far to have Emirates acknowledge they messed up in the delivery of one of our bags, acknowledge that yes, they indeed are required to reimburse us for the clothing we bought.

It's been 3 weeks since I submitted all of our receipts. GL to your friend. While EK has a great in-flight product, their ground service has been pretty terrible.

One benefit of being platinum is this gets sorted quickly, good luck - I find twitter helpful

It didn't make the next day's flight either. Hopefully it's there now.

I have two compensations that never came. They were validated by EK and my bank's info were acknowledged, but no cash in.
A recent euro flight met heavy delays. I didn't even submit the compensation request ...
