Address directly to Emirates? Im not confident the folk here at EK Flyertalk can do much?

Surely if youre equipment is too large to take onboard, EK has put the (free) measures in place for it to be put securely in the hold.

Until the ban came into effect I carried on my camera gear together with electronics in a backpack or wheeled case. The 'free' measures consist of a cardboard box large enough for a laptop. As of now there are no facilities for gate checking a larger case with camera gear, the only way is to check it in and have it count toward my two case allowance.

Laptop ban lifted

Good news for some.

According to the BBC, the cabin ban on laptops no longer applies on Emirates flights to the USA. There is no mention of other electronic devices such as digital cameras etc.
