Help! First name only on ticket

Hi all,

I have read a lot about only using your first name and leaving your middle name is okay. But I contacted Emirates and they said the ticket has to reflect the passport exactly. The booking agent only asked for one firstname. For example first names on passport are 'Johanna Marie', then only use Johanna. My dads name is Ba Van with a space in between, so I only used 'Ba'. In Vietnamese its actually one name, but it has a space in between. Can he get problems of the missing name: 'Van'? He is flying from Düsseldorf to Dubai and then to Vietnam.

Please help me. I am so worried he has to pay a new ticket and feel very responsible.

Hi,

This is something i would rather get sorted out before you get to the airport , i recommended contacting EK now via the call centre and get it all resolved. Im sure there is no charge for changing the name ( may be wrong) , but if it was a EK booking agent that messed it up then I'm sure you would not get charged ....

The main thing is your name on the ticket is the exact same as your passport !

Fear not it will all work out ;)

Airlines to charge for name changes. Small mistakes like 1 wrong or missing letter is generally fine and merged first and middle names, too. Missing middle name for a western name I think is less of an issue than the Vietnamese example cited

Definitely get it changed if u can.
Also if you have any domestic Vietnam flights booked make sure his name is exact as security there may not let you pass through if it doesn't match passport or ID exactly
