First timer needs advice

I have been hoarding miles for years and ready to book a trip from JFK-DBX-MLE. Any helpful advice understanding time change, DBX layover, and best use for miles. I have over 250,000 miles to use on this trip. Any tips?

Nice. Should be plenty for round-trip in F or J

Welcome to FT and the EK board, bcw7777.
You ask some pretty general questions - it might help others help you if you had some more specific informaton requests. As a start DXB is 9 hours ahead of JFK at the moment and MLE 10hrs ahead. Not sure what else you need to understand.
Lots of information about travel options and DXB itself available - why not start with the EK site and come back here for some opinions?

I thought miles expired after a period of time, or is that just tier miles ?

I may be mistaken but I wonder if the OP is based in the USA and that these may be Alaska miles rather than Skywards?

Be flexible with your dates - EK isn't the easiest to get award seats.
