Huge discrepancy between Emirates and Experflyer
Hi,
I'm looking at a certain flight on a specific day on the emirates website - it's telling me there's only 3 seats available left in J and 2 left in F and 0 left in Y. Expertflyer, on the other hand, is telling me there is massive availability in Y - near enough to 100 seats, and 8 seats left in J. I would have much preferred to go with Y on this flight but have been somewhat forced into purchasing a J ticket. Is anyone able to explain the huge discrepancy between emirates and expertflyer with regards to seat availability? Would be much appreciated as I can't make heads or tails of it. |
On Expertflyer, are you looking at availability of fare buckets or available (unassigned) seats?
How do you reckon there are 100 seats available in Y? If it's allocated seats that you're looking at, it's meaningless. What counts is availability of fare buckets. Shuly |
It's not possible to determine number of seats available beyond 9 on Expertflyer

The numbers on EF are also the number of seats EK is willing to sell and not necessarily reflective of what is actually available because EK oversell y and j (not F like BA) on certain routes. When booking on the EK website you should also note that when you select a certain ticket type i.e. Saver it may say 2 left but then there will likely by j flex and j flex plus left... |

This was the seatmap I put on another thread on 8th November 16 for a flight on 30th November 16. It only shows a small part of the entire Y cabin but this screenshot and the last cabin had a lot of empty seats and remained so until T-50hrs (2 hours before OLCI opened) when I last checked before OLCI opened.
Unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot, but when OLCI opened at T-48, all of a sudden, there were about 10 empty seats available to choose from in Y. Every seat in this cabin apart from exit/bulhead seats were taken and the same with the other Y cabins and practically all middle seats only left (except for exit/bulheads which are allocated at the airport). Expertflyer showed the same as the EK App up until the same time. You can never go on what expertflyer seatmaps show. Safe & Happy Travels S |

To add to this, you can't add the availability in different fare classes within the same cabin to get a total. If the airline is willing to sell a seat in a cheap fare class then they are also willing to sell the same physical seat in all the more expensive fare classes.
I had to go to an airpot office to get it ticketed manually! |
