Birmingham or Heathrow?
Hi All,
I live in the middle at present Milton Keynes so for my flights I can fly from Heathrow or Birmingham. Birmingham is around £12 cheaper overall then Heathrow. Both offer the same flight options and connections, Heathrow does have a later in the day flight still available on the return (4pm) where as Birmingham would return me a 1pm. Either way an hour or so drive back and work the next day. Birmingham has a poor feel about it, Heathrow is Heathrow. My friend works for BA and has offered to allow me access to the BA lounge if I wanted but I think its a different terminal. Both are A380 on out, where as Birmingham is 777 on return, I cant make up my mind what to go with, what would you suggest? |

Why not BHX out and LHR back? what about LGW?
|
Thanks, I guess BHX out and LHR back would be a interesting combo if I train. I am flying economy unfortunately, isn't work so cant go for the usual business class.
I am tempted by the idea of the BA lounge, I was only thinking same airport as it would be easier if I decided to drive and park at airport. Gatwick was more of a longer journey back but was actually a lot cheaper then LHR. Would have saved me £50 but that would have gone in travel time. I have to book this evening as I am told the pricing reduction in place goes back up tomorrow evening. Etihad etc have my flights for £548 where as EK us £388 per person or there about depending on where I fly from. |
Is the A380 from BHX the 2 class and if so are there vacant seats upstairs? If so, I would definitely go for that as it's so nice!
I have even traveled from Scotland to Manchester before for the 2 class a380. |
Less of an issue now but in the days when BHX had only 2 flights a day we were grateful we came via LHR when a late incoming connection meant only a 3 hour delay in DXB rather than 10 hours. I do prefer the BHX ground experience to LHR and the rail connection is excellent.

If this comment is based on tomorrow being the last day for the current selection of "Featured Fares", I'd take it with a pinch of salt. In my experience a price is just as likely to go down as up for the next batch, which will start as soon as this batch finishes.
F saver was there then it went...then when it eventually came back it was 200 GBP more each. I then booked J flex flights as no F savers available - as soon as F saver came back I gladly paid the 13 pounds each fare difference! |
BHX. Leave the car in MK and take the train direct to Birmingham International. You will have a hassle free trip without worrying about traffic and parking at LHR.

And there is little queuing for takeoff or stacking at BHX., and yes it a 2class A380 (grab a seat upstairs) for the midday flight until 1stJan then it moves to the evening flight.
