No online check-in for EK codeshare on Qantas?
 

I am flying XXX-DXB-LHR, with XXX-DXB on EK and DXB-LHR on EK flight number yet Qantas aircraft.

To my surprise, I cannot check in online for the second leg, only for the first leg on EK. At the airport, I ask to print my onward boarding pass as well - but they cannot: "It is a different system, when in Dubai you have to go to Qantas transfer desk.

Theoretically, I have 2h 5min connection time in Dubai. Practically, my flight XXX-DXB will be delayed by 30-60 mins due to "surprisingly" dense traffic over Dubai, then will be parked in Sharjah so that - once I arrive at concourse A - check in for my LHR flight will be long closed.

What would you do? How stupid is EK not to have resolved this by now, they have been in their Qantas partnership for many months.

Did you try checking in on the Qantas website for that leg?

Yep, you can check in on the Qantas website. also if you are EK silver and above, you can choose seats. If you're in Y on a QF A380, I'd recommend the small cabin at the rear of the ship upstairs. Always get some of the J wines there as the service comes off the back of it.

I tried checking in on the Qantas website some hours ago and it said "airport check-in only". Now I tried again and it let me check-in online for that leg.
