Problem with seat assignment at check in
I am flying with Emirates for the first time so this may seem like a daft question to the regulars that fly with them. I have a flight from Dulles to Male with a 1 hour and 45 min layover in Dubai. I am now within the 48 hour window to check in.
The problem I am having is with my seat assignments for the Dubai to Male leg. When I check in my seats are there for my Dulles to Dubai leg but not the Dubai to Male leg. In the spot for seat assignment it says "none". But when I go to manage my booking the seats are chosen. I spoke to a rep for Emirates and he told me its because its not 48 hours from my Dubai to Male leg. If that's the case than why will it let me check in for the leg? I was wondering if you guys have any idea why this is? I haven't checked in because I wasn't sure about this problem and the rep from Emirates said if I wait until tomorrow to check in I will see all my seat assignments. Any advice for a novice traveler? |
If it's in MMB it's probably fine and will appear correctly on your BP

I've always done OLCI <48h before the connecting (2nd) flight. Not sure what happens if you check in for the 1st flight earlier. In such a situation when trying to check in the seat choice for the 2nd flight would show up as "none" for me too so the explanation you got is correct as far as I can tell.

It's a bug and you can safely ignore it.

the Prague leg was stating none, but when i looked on the APP it showed my seat as well as when i popped into change my seat. So ignore it. ;) safe travels. |
Thank you guys for the advice. After I checked in I didn't have a seat assignment but later on last night for some reason it showed up.
I do like some advice or opinions about something else about our flight. When I checked in they gave me the option to upgrade myself and husband to business class for $350 per ticket. But it was only for the Dubai to Male leg. We decided not to do it since that leg is only 4 hours. But now I am wondering if we should have done it. Do you guys think it is worth it for 4 hours? |

We were really on the fence about spending the $700. We are thinking if they offer on our return flight we might take them up on it. I haven't flown business class with Emirates and I did not know if the value was there.

Note that you don't get lounge access. That may affect your decision. Of course if you have it anyway then it doesn't matter.

It depends on your financial circumstances and whether you think it's worth it for 4 hours.
