Cash Plus Miles Option

I am just in the process of booking a flight from BHX to dubai
There is now a cash plus points option

Use my Skywards Miles to reduce the total cost by up to GBP 210.00 is now offered via a tick box - for 34678 miles

It does also say
Skywards Miles and Tier Miles you will earn will be calculated proportional to the base fare you are paying with cash.

I guess its a way of burning points which are about to expire!!

Pretty poor value given that a Skywards mile can average a value of $0.017 (up to $0.02) for upgrades and such, which would make those miles worth GBP 448 (at $0.017).

Just checked a dummy booking and was offered ~$110 off for 15k miles. They see to be using a hard-coded mile-value of about $0.007

terrible ratio.. only to be used when expiring miles or u r sure your are not travelling EK in near future and want to burn them..

This is what I have:
"Reduce the cost of your booking by up to PLN 940.00 redeeming 30,155 Miles"

940PLN = 239 USD.

So, something similar.

Well, better then nothing if one can't use miles in other way like upgrade etc.

What's important:
it can take price down also for ticket for 2 pax, where number of miles (e.g. 30,155) would be to less to buy upgrade for two although enough for just one.

The ratio is bad but better than Emirates Highstreet :D
(no need to do that if you have enough miles for upgrades/rewards, but a lot of people have only 10-15K miles...)

Just got an email about this exciting new way to spend your Miles (not), which states upfront the direct ratio: 5,000 miles = 40 USD. Meanwhile, reward flights are also being rebranded as 'classic rewards'(!)

"It’s now even easier to spend your Skywards Miles with the launch of Cash+Miles, which allows you to instantly bring down the cost of any ticket you book.

If you don’t have enough Miles for a reward flight – now known as a Classic Reward – you can pay for your ticket using a combination of cash and Skywards Miles*. All you need to do is choose the number of Miles you’d like to put towards your flight, from as little as 2,000. If you convert 5,000 Skywards Miles, your fare will cost USD 40 less. And you’ll even earn Miles on the part that you pay for using cash"

Where is this option during booking?

As in, where on the screen?

Log in and do a dummy booking. You can't miss it.

Or if you've had the email, watch the video it links to.

Ah yeah I found it, thanks.

I know this is an old thread but I stumbled across the fact EK are currently (and have been) running a promotion which appears to offer decent value:

https://www.emirates.com/uk/english/...ith-cash-miles

On a booking I am looking at, the new rate works out at a saving of USD201 per 10,000 miles which is higher than what I would value Skywards miles at, on average. The only caveat is that you earn miles / tier miles pro rata to the amount you paid for in cash.
