Some Emirates "promotions" are a scam...

Was booking a SIN-MEL return using the SGMAST1 promo code (10% off regular fares, woo hoo!), and thankfully I checked the regular price, because guess what, I would have paid $250 MORE for the promo fare!!! I guess they aren't kidding when they say Special Fares for Mastercard..

It may be that the promo fare is a Flex fare or the promo only applies to Flex fares while there is a Saver or special fare regularly available. Are those two flights in the same fare type?

You don't show what type of fare each books into. On just about all airlines promo codes generally aren't lower then "saver" type fares. The problem is the website has been told by you to search for fares that qualify for the promo. The other fare doesn't and thus it didn't get shown.

Maybe a bug rather than a scam. Or maybe a timing issue as the current regular fare is showing higher now.

I received an email in Late May.offering 40KG luggage allowance. After I booked ticket for a friend and myself purely because of avaiability, I noticed Luggage Allowance to be 30 KG on the way out and 40KG on return journey. I took this up with Emirates through Twitter, Text below is part of reply received from Emirates through Twitter.

*****Additional 10kg allowance applies only to Economy Saver fares. Special, Flex and Flex+ fares are excluded.*****

After not getting anywhere with Emirates I refred this matter to Advertising Standards Agency. Throughout the Emirates email its not mentioned that offer only applies to one specific type of fare and excludes evrything else. ASA requested screen shots of email and my booking, which I forwarded, after few days they requested the original email, which I forwarded aswell and now waiting for their response.

There would almost certainly be a link to terms and conditions.

Is that relevant in any form if 40kg is advertised?

There is an issue with advertising in the UK if the advert is misleading

Was the fare an economy special fare though , since that would only have a 20Kg base allowance

So in the US this would go through as an 'excuse' or 'rationalisation' to abrogate a key principle promised made n the ad????

I don't think I've ever seen a baggage allowance upgrade offer - only upgrades to J class!

Could you show us the email that you got with the offer?
