Need your help

I've booked a trip to NYC with Emirates. Because of the fact I have some points expiring in April I've booked a fare business that allowed to ask for upgrade to first using points. This fare was not the lowest but to use points this was the one to book.
Now they upgraded me on the return flight but not on the ongoing one (that will be in a week). First class is still empty cause I tried to book 6 seats on the flight and there is availability.
What are your suggestions to obtain the upgrade even on the first flight? I don't want to throw miles away and booked with them only to spend these miles.

Thanks for your help.

With non USA based airlines always expect to fly in the cabin you buy: upgrades are not given out like with USA based airlines. Because seats are not sold does not mean an upgrade. Non USA airlines will fly with empty first & business class seats.

not sure if your outbound is in may but if not, you can also do the upgrade at check-in (Z class does not have to be available, if there is a available seat you can do it)

you can also set an alert on the homepage - as soon as The upgrade is available you (should) get a message

Has anyone had the EK upgrade alert work yet?

I've had two flights where upgrades have been made available but no alert recieved, despite being registered.
