Is it worth upgrading??

Hi I have a flight coming up with ek del- mxp- rome - del in economy. And I called to up the customer care to check if I can get some good deal to upgrade my return flight from rome to delhi. They have offered me a "discounted deal" (as per the customer care executive) for the return sector for usd450. Now my question is, is it worth paying for the upgrade? Just to let u know, my flight departs at 15:25 arriving dxb 23:25 on an a380, 5h10m stopover then departing dxb 04:35 arriving del 09:25 on 77-300er . I'm really looking fwd for some suggestions as I'm really confused. Thanks

$450 is a great deal, assuming it's for the whole Rome to Dubai and Dubai to Delhi route.

EK sometimes send out upgrade invitations via email, a UK to DXB is normally around £450.

I would definitely book this for 450$ the A380 business is fantastic and 777 can be good as well.

Seems ridiculously cheap to me.

Hope there hasn't been some horrendous misunderstanding and that it really is the full cost to switch to business for both inbound sectors (and not just an amendment fee). Perhaps they've quoted such a favourable cost because your original economy ticket was (?) bought in a high-priced fare code.

Grab the offer whilst it's still there ....!

No question, grab that offer!

kuroko Mar 25, 2016 2:43 pm

since when exists a discounted offer in the call center?

if you get that price again, take it!

Pretty sure that this is the complete upgrade cost inclusive of taxes from fco all the way till delhi. I was pretty much surprised as well. My orignal ticket fare class is economy saver. So not that it was a high price fare originally.

I'm not sure if this is india specific, but infact I was offered a pretty good deal to upgrade both my inbound and outbound for $1260. But somehow I didn't want to spend so much. So basically what I get from your replys is that it is worth spending usd450 to get chauffeur service at both ends, lounge for 5h at dubai plus of course the business class featured on board?

This is a no brainer. Good luck getting the same quoted figure to come up again.

I would even upgrade the whole trip to business.

Worth double-checking that both those benefits will be made available to you.

Can't see an issue re lounge access ; but CD service is sometimes excluded with certain special offers.

Always nice to be in J on EK 510 from DXB to DEL.

Though the flight time is only around 3 hrs , I usually get a good 2 hrs sleep and can reach DEL in good shape.

I usually have breakfast in the lounge (breakfast items starts appearing by around 3AM ) , board early and sleep.

Don't think you'll get much sleep at the DXB lounge as it's a fairly busy time when u land. The lounge will get quieter by 2 to 230 AM from memory.

So I did upgrade myself to j. And yes I am entitled for chauffeur service and lounge accsess at bot fco and dxb. Any idea, how long before my flight should I schedule my pickup in rome, considering I'm staying near the city centre?
