By the way, I just happened to find out our A380 March flight got switched. Bummer. Still in first though.

Emirates to Add A380 Washington Service from late-March 2016
Emirates today has revised planned operational aircraft for Dubai – Washington Dulles route starting 27MAR16, which sees the launch of 3-class Airbus A380 service. The A380 is to operate on daily basis, replacing the 777-300ER.

IAD A380 starts 01FEB. It uses the aircraft that comes off the DFW route.

EDIT - it is now loaded into booking, but not the online schedule (and who knows what the undated PDF has-LOL). Also is in Expert Flyer, but not first award seats.

Its just that the A380 business class is so much more enjoyable being 4 across (23A is my favorite) and I really liked having the bar to stretch out in. DXB-JNB is ok with the 2-3-2 config since its only an 8 hour flight. Guess i've really been spoiled. LOL.

I am really really disappointed by this. Business class on the 777 is 7 across. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I guess the other ME2 will have to be an option for my monthly commute to JNB at least until Sept.

There's sometimes that I do prefer the 777 J though. But you can never beat all aisle access on the A380.
F is another story, honestly I never use the bar too much but the showers will be missed. The roomier suites on the 777 might almost make up for it though.
Don't think switching to QR would help you though, as AFAIK they fly aircraft with 2-2-2 to DFW/IAH.
EY is ok but their ground services are awful.
Personally I'm gonna just power through, hopefully EK puts the A380 back on its TX routes soon. Might be an excuse to book more F!

Athens/larnaca
eff 01 March
2nd daily Athens flight operated via Laranca on B773ER
EK107/8
Does this mean that EK will stop serving Malta, as EK107/8 is the current flight number for the Malta/Larnaca flight , which will change over to Larnaca/Athens from 1st March

It is part of a wider change that will also involve Larnaca, Malta and Tunis.

My exact thought when I found out IAH was getting down gauged to a 777 as well.

LCA and ATH used to be linked in the past, the last time was about 2001 or 2002. I'm curious as to how these will be scheduled. Could it be DXB-LCA-ATH-DXB and DXB-ATH-LCA-DXB? If not, they might end up with flights ex ATH arriving in DXB at similar times?

It looks like LCA-MLA has been zeroed out and the KM codeshare stops on 29th Feb. So if, as HB-IWC says, MLA gets combined with TUN does it allow them to retire a 330 without too big an increase in capacity on the LCA and MLA markets?

EK has rights to sell tickets for the LCA-ATH-LCA sectors which is a much larger market than LCA-MLA-LCA

The current ATH flight leaves 10:05 and returns to DXB at 21:35. So both ATH flights would be connecting to and from the same banks. Assuming they kept that schedule. But perhaps they'll switch the nonstop ATH schedule?
I suppose the GDS will be updated in the next few days.
