EK flights - transit in JNB/ SA transit visa question

Hello,

Question re the ridiculous SA transit visa ........ Can someone correct me if I am wrong! The transit visa is applicable only if I am in transit to the 6 neighbour countries - i.e., Mozambique, Bots, Namibia, Zim, Lesotho and Swaziland.

If I am in transit to any other destination - i.e., Zambia, Tanzania etc etc., then there is no need for a transit visa.

Next question - if the onward destination is the one in question - then it does not matter where I come from if I am travelling back home to India? Again, I wouldn't need a transit visa?

FYI - Indian passport holder........ I am just fed up of the SA transit visa and the ridiculous lack of effort on their part to process visas quickly at their High commission.

Thanks - any input is welcome.

What's your itinerary? Easier to check that way.

Amusingly VFS in India quotes the South African Mumbai Consulate and Delhi High Commission, who give conflicting advice - which means it's much better to check Timatic, which means an itinerary. The government's own website is also not clear on it

Thinking of doing Dubai-Lusaka

then Air Botswana to Gaborone from Lusaka. (will get a visa for both Zambia and Botswana)

Return - I can do Gaborone-JNB-Dubai-Chennai

Thanks - any assistance is helpful

For Indian National on Ordinary passport:

DXB-LUN needs Zambia Visa
LUN-GBE needs Botswana Visa and Onward Ticket
GBE-JNB-DXB-MAA no additional Visa required, but Onward Ticket required at transit point JNB
