First Time using Emirates :-)

Hey Guys,

Hope everyone is having a good day and ready for the weekend :-) I booked my flights for my Xmas/NYE trip this week from London To Bangkok, Traveling out on the 19th Dec on EK016/EK384 in Econ and back on 16th Jan on EK375/EK009 in Business and I have a couple of questions if you don't mind? :-)

1, My outbound ticket is a Flex Plus ticket, if there are seats in Business am I able to pay the difference to upgrade? if so how much would I be looking at?

2, My inbound flights EK375/EK009 are both daytime flights, does this mean i wont get the Amenity Kit? if so am i allow to ask for one? do they normally have them on board?

3, Also on my inbound flights i have selected seats 23K, is this a good seat in business?

Sorry for all the questions in my first post here, this is my first business class flight and i am a little excited.

Hi there territt.

Will take a stab at tackling your questions, and others will almost certainly chip in too (perhaps with some corrections !)

1.Yes, you can upgrade if space available. Not sure of the exact cost, although be prepared for a significant amount. You should be able to check figures by going to your 'Manage My Booking' page on the EK official website - although if your booking was made with an agent, you may need to refer back to them.

2. I don't believe amenity kits are issued on daytime sectors in J. But then I'm not the best to advise on that because I tend not to bother with them anyway and often leave them behind at the end of a flight (there seems to be a mismatch between the flight numbers you quote in this question vs those quoted in your opening para ......??)

3. You have selected one of the best-regarded seats (23k or 23A generally get very positive reviews/feedback). Some have commented it might be too close to the bar (not a problem if you enjoy hanging around bars :)) or that there might be a delay in your meal service but I would stick with it if I were you.

Hope that helps a little.

Have a great trip ^

Yes you can pay to upgrade Flex Plus with no change fee but fare difference and differential tax will apply and could be significant. You can check it online under MMB however if booked with an agent as subject2load indicates this may not work. Some other complicate/mixed fare itineraries also give technical errors occasionally, but calling EK will usually get you a quote.

23K is always my J seat of choice travelling solo on an A380. While it's true you get your meal a little later, you only have a bulkhead in front of you so you generally don't even notice, plus you can see your seat from the bar and make a move when the cabin crew are getting close with the table linen. It's also got the more private layout with the minibar between the seat and the aisle.

I've never noticed noise as an issue, and I view proximity to the bar (and the loos) as a plus.

23 K is my favourite seat as well. Its like a poor man's version of the F suite and the best seat in J on the 380 IMHO.

However when you are sitting in your seat you can see a creepy reflection of the man/woman sitting in 22G on the flower vase on the bulkhead. :-).
