Any good bar/restaurant recommendations?

We're heading to Dubai tomorrow for a shortish break. What are the recommendations for bar/restaurants these days?

We're staying at the Sofitel JBW, rather than our usual hotels near the airport.

On the list so far is :-

Indego by Vineet
Observatory (Marriott Marina)
Barasti (??? - is this any good these days?)

We've been to Dubai loads of times, so we've done the usual Burj, Downtown, Atlantis etc. So, we're looking for some fairly new places. Probably in the Marina area, but would consider anywhere if it's worth it.

As we're getting to the wrong end of 40 something, we prefer somewhere :-

- We can get a seat
- Can talk without a megaphone
- Not full of drunken Brits (other than me)

Recommendations welcome.

Cheers!

Try 8-10 hours in the DXB Lounge. Free hand cream too.

:D:D

Methinks there's only one FT member who would (voluntarily) spend that long in the lounge ; and methinks the hand lotion reference might give a clue as to who that member might be..........

For casual;

Rosso at Amwaj Rotana - the outdoor terrace (unless you can deal with smoke!) should be OK temperature wise now;

Observatory at Marriott - the ribs are outstanding as is the veal chop - the views are very nice too from 50 floors up.

Upscale -

Rhodes Twenty10 at Le Royal Meridien - just excellent food & beverage in a classy dining room. Great steaks.

Indigo by Vineet T Grosvenor House - high-end indian.

Frankie’s at JBR - MPW & F Dettoris place - nice mid-range/upscale F&B - italian focussed.

Hope that helps.

I've missed two crackers my personal favourite is le petite maison in the difc - incredible or hakkasan or zuma or la serre (very similar to le petite maison but not quite as good).

Get lpm booked.

La Petite Maison for sure. Their Burrata is amazing and so is the ceviche. For dessert, outstanding Creme Brulee

La Serre at The Vida Downtown. Their Boulangerie has amazing Scrambled Eggs with Truffles and a decent PAin Perdu

Katsuya at Dubai MAll for casual but yummy Japanese Food or Eataly at the same place

Vault bar, 71st floor, JW Marriott Marquis, great view, reasonably quiet (although they had some annoying DJ on when I was there last time and inexplicably could not turn it down a bit).
If you like Japanese, Tomo in Raffles/WAFI has great food and the bar has a fantastic view of the Dubai skyline from the terrace.

Thanks all. I think that lot will keep us busy. :)

We went to a spanish place in the kempinski that was pretty reasonable. The marriott was good, great views. Also went to la parrilla in in the jumeirah beach club which was nice steak - although not as good as meat co in souk madinat. Although not a great place for comfort compared to others, I loved aprons and hammers for seafood, the bucket of prawns was hard to beat!!
