Thinking of booking business class flights from LGW via Dubai and Bangkok to Krabi, Thailand. First question is will we be given boarding passes for the 3 flights at Gatwick considering the final flight BKK to Krabi is with Thai International Airlines. Secondly can we purchase duty free in Dubai bearing in mind we have to go through security at BKK before boarding our Krabi flight.

If your ticket is purchased as one through ticket on the EK web site (use multiple destinations feature for best connections) then all 3 of your BP's should be issued at LGW.

Yes you can purchase duty free at either dxb or low -if there is liquid you need to get it in the special bag and must not open it en route.

Emirates sells tickets to Krabi using Thai Airways Bangkok to Krabi, so you should have no problem having your baggage "Through-Checked" to Karbi, also if all fights on one ticket You should have the Emirate baggage allowance on the Thai Airways flight.

If your baggage is not through cheeked to Krabi you will have to collect it and recheck it in at Bangkok, the queuing for the main immigration at Bangkok can take over an hour, hopefully the transfer immigration is a lot quicker.

There is very limited duty free shopping when you arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport, basically a kiosk that sells smokes and booze. You don't have access to the large number of duty free shops on the departure side, you may not see it as I think it is just before the main immigration.

At Bangkok follow signs "transfer to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Hat Yai" (immigration, customs and another security frisk).

I presume at Krabi there will be another customs check of bags from international fights not cheeked in Bangkok.

If you are flying J then yes, but i wouldn't be expecting too much from their domestic lounge, it is very very very basic and quite busy.

The EK J lounge in Bangkok is quite nice, good food and very comfortable ith good showers if you have access on the return.

The secret of the TG domestic lounge is the "outdoor" area at the back of the lounge - much nicer than the drab interior! That said, if you want something decent to eat, just go to the little food court before you go down the departure concourse - but better selection of things. Not free of course, but sometimes you have to give up on the free stuff and have some standards :D (heresy for Flyertalk, I know!)

Agree completely, the food court did offer far better food selection, a few drab sandwiches and steamed buns really doesn't count for food selection.:D
I didnt get a chance to see the outside area (short on time and unknown to me at the time) granted it was 730am i expected it to be not so busy in off season but the lounge was heaving. Would hate to see it at peak times.

Yes - it's always been extremely busy, for years now. Even though TG has hived off a lot of their domestics to Thai Smile which disqualifies Star golds from using the lounge, and the movement of some of the domestics over to DMK, I think the pax numbers are made up by a lot of the ME carriers bringing people in for those morning connections. It also doesn't help that TG flies 747s on domestic routes regularly! (BKK-CNX for example)

Not sure there is an off season any more!
