A380 to CPH from Dec 1

Saw that EK announced A380 service to/from CPH from Dec 1.
Curiously on expertflyer and EK homepage they dont sell F-class seats but actually advise that "you will travel in C-class for this segment" e.g. when booking CPH-DXB-BKK r/t in F.
I know they currently operate 777 with 2-class config but with the advent of A380 service will they actively keep the F-cabin closed off? I dont think they have any aircraft without F? Or am I wrong? Any info on other routes where this is the case?

It's the first 2 class A380. So, no F class.

Any one know the layout and how many j seats?

subject2load Apr 10, 2015 11:01 am

Config - I believe - is 557 in Y, with J dropped from 76 to 58, making a new total of 615. That's a lotta people on one plane .......

Bar/lounge will remain, so presumably the extra Y pax go into the area formerly devoted to F suites and showers.....?

I'd have thought they'd move the bar to the current F area, and have Y at the back.

Yes, I suppose that's the more likely layout.

Talking of 380's (and apologies if already covered elsewhere on FT) I read on some site or other that LGW has been given a permanent second daily A380, although that won't be a 2 class of course.

Yep. Also mentioned in the New Routes thread :)

In fact, one of the LGW A380 flights will be 2 class from Jan 1. A bit of a surprise!

The J lounge will be upfront, J class runs half way through the top deck, with economy filling the back half.

Any idea how they will board that? Assume you'll have the same as l2 on a 777 ie y pax walking through half of the j cabin :td:

Unless they do put the other economy section at the front then they'll turn left.

Won't stop them sneaking to the bar whichever end its at :)

That would make J the same as on the current 3 class which isn't the case.

Yes - pretty much the same protocol as all the other A380 operators which have Y at the back of the upper deck - boarding through UL1 and through half the J cabin.

I don't think really a big (or even small) deal though - as you say, it's the same as the 777. Perhaps it will be make passengers listen to lounge announcements as to when to board instead of being paranoid and getting to the gate early "just in case" to wait around and board at the same time as the Y pax, if they really, really feel uncomfortable about the fact they may be seen sitting in the J cabin as Y pax walk past, but then, I don't see anything wrong with that and am at a bit of a loss as to why anyone would feel too uncomfortable about that...

Sounds pretty horrible. Now official in Danish media: 617 seats on the 2-class A380. Expertflyer shows seatmap idential to current A380 just without the F section. So J starting in row 6. But maybe they haven't yet had their charts updated. Boarding/Deplaning must be close to horrendous with so many Pax. Even with new expansion of the C-finger at CPH, all lounges are before passport control so all pax will have to wait in a holding 'pen' prior to boarding. Yikes....
