Summer is hell here but hey a Dubai do in July post Ramadan sounds good!

That time of year we need one with good indoor options - perhaps trateur at the park Hyatt? :D

eightblack Feb 12, 2015 12:14 pm

I have a family commitment in Australia this US summer - but if I can make it, I will. We should do something aviation related. Zol and I can have another crack at EK HQ again. And as far as I am concerned, brunch at the Park Hyatt is mandatory!

pjm1300 Feb 12, 2015 4:28 pm

I just had brunch at Trateur two weeks ago and it was awful. They changed the champagne from Veuve-Clicquot to some other BS and jacked the price to 695 AED! Westin Bubblelichious is a much better brunch and the seafood is amazing!

If you guys are stuck on Park Hyatt, I am out...

Dont be silly, if the PH is now rubbish then lets ditch it. I'm going to take the advice of the waterlogged locals. Thanks for the heads up...

I've not been the the PH brunch for a while so can't comment but my favourite brunch in Dubai is bubbilicous at the westin. It's very good - there is even a "lab" with liquid nitrogen margarita shots and other cool shots in various scientific bottles!

Also there are much better after brunch options down there ie barasti :D

Yeah, they'd switched the champagne just before the last Do. The new stuff tasted OK to me - but I'm no expert.

Not sure that really appeals :)

Sounds like Yalumba

I was just thinking about the Do this morning.

Count me in. Any date is fine with me, but just to stir things up, how about having it around mid May to early June?

I'm in Barbados for a couple of weeks (last week in May, first week in June), so I wouldn't be able to make it. However, it's not all about me :)

I'm in Japan 15-30 May

wolf539 Feb 13, 2015 11:39 am

Interested, and late July or early August works for me right now.

RBFF10 Feb 14, 2015 9:51 pm

I'm all for the Westin as its in walking (stumbling?) distance of my apartment.... :D Al Qasr's brunch was pretty tasty last time I was there

Have a couple long weekends in that time frame but should be good to go

stargold Feb 15, 2015 1:05 am

Moved to AD at the beginning of the year, so I will very much be up for this :)

Not my favorite. The Westin in the best big brunch.

Yahillwe Feb 17, 2015 11:37 am

If it is the 3rd week of July I can make it.

m3red Feb 17, 2015 8:03 pm

It's eid on or around 17 July so it's not happening in July. August would be better for your cheap hotels etc...

desertweasel Feb 18, 2015 4:02 am

I'd vote for the Westin as well though it is wildly popular and pre booking essential, some good indoor post brunch options in the marina at Cargo as well with a handy tram almost door to door.

Zol Feb 18, 2015 11:16 am

Best brunches by Timeout:

Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah
Bubbalicious, The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina
Crescendo, Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa
Gaucho, DIFC
Mina A'Salam, Madinat Jumeirah
Saffron, Atlantis The Palm
Nobu, Atlantis The Palm
Toro Toro, Grosvenor House Dubai
Traiteur, Park Hyatt Dubai
The Ivy, Jumeirah Emirates Towers

Gringuito Feb 18, 2015 12:09 pm

3,5 years now in Dubai and I have done a lot of the brunches, but my favorite is definitely La Parrilla in Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Amazing view, champagne and only quality food unlike many other places where quantity will be more important than quality.

Is there a good inside space though?

In August being outside for more than 1⃣0⃣ seconds is a problem!

I'm not a fan of Al qasar, bubbilicous is far better. As for Saffron...full of chavs!

Good after drinks would be at cargo at pier 7 given its indoors.

The observatory has a good little brunch too, reasonable price good food table service and a cracking view of the palm.

It is inside only (ok sometimes they put one table on their terrace). The restaurant is on the top floor of the hotel with an amazing view of the city and of Burj Al Arab.

you clearly need to make a reservation in advance, the restaurant is not very big.

I'd be interested in attending another Dubai DO. Have stayed at the Park Hyatt in 2012/2013 and really enjoyed the rates and the Friday brunch.. Will keep an eye on this thread for dates. Beginning of Sept is out for me, as I will be at the Alaska DO.

ft101 Feb 27, 2015 1:40 am

Shouldn't this be in CommunityBuzz?

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/communitybuzz-380/

I realise some FT EK regulars may not go there, but rules are rules. It also always annoys me when long planned dos turn up there at the last minute (often from the BA forum).

The OP was just to try and agree on a date. This was the issue last year.

I didn't know there were rules about posting meet ups.

Anyway, probably best to close this thread and start a new one in the correct place. I'll leave that up to you...

I wasn't trying to step on any toes so apologies if you took it that way.

Just voicing a personal gripe regarding content on

The official get-together page for the FlyerTalk community . . . .

m3red Feb 27, 2015 8:16 pm

There's nothing official yet but sure lets put a thread over there to agree dates etc

eightblack Feb 27, 2015 10:51 pm

Folks, I will have the Community Buzz Mods make it official and we can continue on over there to discuss and argue the merits of the best brunch in the Sandpit and then argue for another eternity as to the dates we should hold the shin dig.

Talk later...

I checked the Community Buzz forum and can't find anything?

DYKWIA Apr 13, 2015 4:39 am

OK - as nothing has happened yet...

I've booked a long weekend to Dubai for me and Mrs DYKWIA. This is 23rd to 29th September. So, I'll put something on the Community Buzz forum for that weekend, and post a link later.

I guess it will be more of a social gathering like last year, rather than a huge MegaDo :)

If Zol or eightblack (or anybody else) can get anything arranged with Emirates, all the better!
