Is it wrong...

To be annoyed when 7/14 in f get opped up and pax upgraded get the shower slot you want or choices before you?

Granted I used miles but it was not a "free" upgrade I think paid and pre upgraded pax should be given preference.

If youi want a particular time, then ask for it on boarding and will likely be ahead of others

Whether someone is in the cabin through paying a 1st fare, upgraded using miles from business or has received an involuntary upgrade , that person should be treated equally to anyone else

No more reason to feel annoyed than a paid 1st passenger has grounds to be annoyed if a particular time is goine becuase some mileage upgrader selected a time before he did

Would be irritating but not the end of the world if I managed to not get a slot; in the crew's defence, it's not so easy to tell who's been op-uped and who hasn't on the usual manifests in the galley - only the purser with the full manifest can tell and shower slot timing generally doesn't seem to be an issue for them to spend time every pre-flight making sure.

Since shower slots are given in priority of status, perhaps the people who were upgraded were plats so they were asked first?

Yes, that seems to be pretty much what might have happened. Though, I've also occasionally seen the asking people who have already boarded and then coming up to me later when I was the only plat in F.

I was on a flight recently where 12/14 were j-f opup's! I felt pretty dumb paying for my ticket! It was clear to see on the manifest Which was easy to see in the galley. Although I agree all should be treated equally once in F I think the purser should note who paid for their seat and try and give them small things like 1st selection on shower time. I can't see an opup complaining but I can see a paying customer complaining so sort of makes commercial sense.

m3red has all reason to be annoyed. It is common sense that paying passengers - no matter whether they pay with money or with miles - should have "first choice" over operationally upgraded passengers. Really, just common sense in any service business.

My flight is showing F2A2 but only 4 people seated in F cabin and J is not zeroed out. Is this a sign that F will be full of upgrades?

You say this but the amount of times I have seen people given a complimentary upgrade Y-J and then complaining, quite vociferously, at the lounge that they should be give access... op-ups do complain! A lot!

My flight attendant friends confirm what you say. Especially on tourist routes during summer (when airlines upgrade non-status customers as well because there is the need for many operational upgrades) upgraded pax often want to have the full experience, Can be a service hassle for FAs.

Someone posted about a situation where one passenger was op-upped and his wife/partner was not. They then decided to equally split the J time and swap between Y and J for each meal course served. :p
