Type of coffee
This is super random, but does anyone know what type of coffee(s) Emirates serves in First Class? I'm wondering mostly in terms of brand and origin (I know from the menu that they have cappuccino, filter coffee etc.).
|
Espresso based coffee drinks in F are Nespresso. The filter coffee is some no name stuff, if I remember correctly - Blue Mountain it ain't!

As eternaltransit implies, I wouldn't set your hopes very high.
There are a number of worthwhile benefits to be had from F class travel but IME (based on a wide range of carriers over the years) getting a top notch cup of coffee is not generally one of them ! That said, I've yet to fly Garuda. Given that Indonesia produces some fantastic coffee beans, maybe their flag carrier does justice to the quality ....? |
They also serve good Arabic coffee if you're into that. :)
This thread is seriously some first world problems... |
I'm a big fan of the espresso's on EK in J and F.
The arabic coffee is very sweet but also nice. |
Type of coffee
I think the espresso in F and J is pretty good. The Arabic coffee is ok but it is "instant" Arabic coffee.

Mostly OT - but the major problem with espresso based coffee quality on board is not actually the beans used/sealed nespresso capsules, but the water they use to make it. It's filtered and quite treated, so not very nice. Not much mineral content. It's completely plumbed into the aircraft system, before anyone asks them to pour bottled water into the coffee machine :P
Now that instant Y stuff...well...let's simply call that a "caffeine dispenser", not a drink...! |
The problem is that espresso makers are only made by Endura and Iacobucci and both are designed to take nespresso pods iirc. They are stupidly expensive bits of kits, so only a few coffee companies could have bought into the design process. I am not sure of exact prices, but those JAMCO microwaves you see on A380s and 777 galleys cost over 10,000 USD a pop!
|
For EK I think it's the B/E Aerospace Endura for J/Y (J also has the espresso machine) but the Iacobucci Nespresso Hi-Fly for F. Will take a look in the galley if I remember for next time!
